Ok, This Inflation Stuff Is Pissing Me Off...

First it's lumber, then it's gas, now it's my beloved LandCruisers.......

https://www.hellomazdavalencia.com/inventory/used-1988-toyota-land-cruiser-base-4wd-4d-sport-utility-jt3fj62g7j0082724/

I mean really? I understand it's low mileage but are these guys on drugs?

I'm taking a look at it first thing Tuesday.....

That is a thing of beauty.

However, but, BTW, IMHO, YMMV...$92k may be a tad high

13K original miles I'd say that commands a premium price.

I seriously don't get that one. The 80 is such a better vehicle. That thing has been creeping up in the past 10 years.

Always liked Land Bruisers. They were what Land Rovers should have been, but Land Rovers took too long to start evolving. I had my eyes out for one for years, but they always seemed to command a premium price. The problem with that one is that you pay collector car price for a vehicle that was meant to be a beater from the factory.

I played red light tag with a RHD version of a Land Cruiser 80 this morning. Jet fokking black it was, with several JFB jerry cans strapped on the roof, tactical mission style.
I don't remember ever seeing RHD versions of them before, but I know that it's possible to import cars from Japan nowadays, so I'll make that assumption, right or wrong.

It funny about those guys with the shovels, traction aids, highlift jacks and fuel cans all over their trucks and yet, the paint on every single one of those items are brand new, polished and waxed like ones on a fireman's truck. Mall crawlers.

Beverly Hills tractor.

Funny thing is a guy got stuck trying to drive through a river where I was swimming - umm, he had EVERYTHING but a tow rope LOL

All the cool cars are going up! Even new cars are crazy...if you can get one. Luxury watches, too.

That's a $100k rig on BaT, all day long. Any day of the week. In fact, if someone was a real gambler, they could go buy this for $80k if they'd take it and then list it and maybe get $120k or more. Collectors go absolutely nuts over ultra-low mileage specialty vehicles over there and we are in the middle of a bubble. Someone just paid $315k for a Skyline GTR.

There is a lot of stupid money around right now and it's particularly stupid. I wonder where they found that thing? Has to be the cleanest original FJ62 in the world.

You're not wrong but I have owned a couple and they are strangely enjoyable to drive as a DD. So much so that people will put up with the mpg and not bat an eye.

As a kid, my brother and I build a "dune buggy" but it was more swamp and mud buggy since there are no dunes around Montgomery, AL. We had lots of fun playing in the mud, and I learned to drive in that thing. I guess like camping, I got all of that out of my system and have zero desire to ride around in the dirt and mud or go camping anymore. I don't own a farm or ranch, and I live in a city. I think a 4x4 off road vehicle is as useful as a mole on my face and as relaxing as getting tickled.

I see lots of people with expensive bass boats, ski boats and lots of other toys and wave runners and I am just glad they get to enjoy a hobby that I am not interested in. If we all liked the same thing, it gets too crowded and expensive.

Enjoy the 4x4s, and I will not be involved in running the prices up.

Not sure why they say its a 4 speed auto. If you feather the gas pedal just right on the 3FE rigs, you will know that its actually 5. I can get both of the 3FE's at my house to do it, a 1990 FJ62, and 1991 FJ80. It may be short, but it's there.
