Carfax question

Has anyone ever corrected a vehicle report where errors show on Carfax? We have 2 company vehicles that each experienced minor damages. No airbags deployed. One was a minor front end hood and number damage. About 3k damage. The other had some side damage from a double left turning lane where someone sideswiped our vehicle as they merged right. Less than 3k damage. About a year after that, Carfax says they were total loss. Yet…DMV shows clear title, not salvage. And our insurance company provided a letter that says the vehicles have not been total loss.
We’re trying to trade them in for new vehicles, but the Carfax issue is a problem for the trade in value. Any suggestions are welcomed.
Thanks.

Good luck with that, odd that there are two instances / same company. I would obtain / document proof, then contact Carfax, try to find someone there that you can start corresponding with, then send the documents you have.

I have recently - it took some time but I got it as straight as I could get.

I am the original owner of my 1983 Porsche 944. Recently, I had given some thought of selling it. I don't drive it as much and I'm getting older - it is a well kept , low millage car. I thought about listing it on Bring A Trailer. So my curiosity was up and I ran a Carfax on my car. To my surprise, the original sale was out east, showing multiple registrations in different states, millage discrepancy, etc. I was furious (I'm being civil here). I contacted Carfax and provides documentation: bill of sale, Maroney sticker, car title and just about every maintenance receipt I have on the car. It took awhile - my VIN was hijacked. I got this resolved to a point where the it is a one owner car with the correct millage. I'm not extremely happy with the entire documentation but I can live with it.

Carfax relies on information from others - you need to provide the evidence. It took about 5-6 months to resolve this.

Contact them and have the documentation to support your claim. They won't do much without information.

For dealers, they correct bad information quickly. I'd like to think they would do the same for a private party. I don't know if you can reach someone by phone or if you have to submit online. Let them know it's urgent.

Thanks guys. The dealer is trying to help. I’ll get repair receipts etc and see if this can be corrected.
