Finally cut the cord and now streaming with YouTubeTV

Set up was so simple and no equipment needed except for my Amazon Fire Stick. Compare that with Directv that requires a dish, boxes and a technician to come install at a time convenient for them. YouTubeTV is so much cheaper, has the channels that I want to watch plus unlimited DVR. I don’t know how satellite and cable can compete nowadays.

We did the same thing 4 weeks ago and we’re very happy. At $50/month we’re saving $62/month over Direct TV.

Been about 8 years since we cut the cord. We have Netflix and Amazon Prime and our monthly costs are $ 28.00

YouTube TV carries the local stations in your area.

Same here, I did it about 6 months ago. The only channel I miss is A&E because I love Live TV, but it’s worth it to save close to $100 per month.

I have been on Sling for about 6 months. I even dumped my internet a year ago when I retired. I share my Sling from my phone to my TV.

I have gone hard core.

I got youtubeTV a few weeks ago also. Like so far.

I have been also using pluto TV (free)

Locast will do free local channels.

Congrats!

Can you share what exactly your savings is per month?

Thanks!

The only thing I miss with Sling is no HBO. It would be nice to have some of the YouTube content.

One big benefit is all of the free movie/show catalog that is offered by most channels. Hundreds and hundreds of free on demand. I also get 10 hours of free cloud recording. Also, if I watch even 1 minute of a live show I can stop watching and then go back anytime and start watching again and that doesn't count as free cloud storage.

I am sure YouTube has something similar.

I am saving about 80 bucks a month vs DirecTV. I have about 160 channels.

Cutting the cord is a misnomer, isn't it? Shouldn't it be called cutting the set top box? And if cable co's can't charge for set top boxes they make up most of the difference by jacking up the cost of internet. So the net difference is minimal, is what I've found. I've also heard the sticks can be quirky. And the app works better on some tv's than others. Usual tech crap.

I actually cut the cord. I stream everything off my phone. It might glitch every once in a while but nothing unacceptable. I would lose DirecTV for 10 or 15 minutes at a time when a storm was to my SSW. Now, never more than a few seconds.

I've bounced all around. Started with DTV NOW. Went to Fubo, then to Hulu, then Youtube, then to Sling. DTV Now (now AT&T TVnow) had the bet channel package. Hulu and Youtube have local channels. Fubo was pretty useless. How can a provider that bills themselves as a sportcentric platform not have the channels that carry NCAA playoffs?
Probably going to go back to Hulu even though multi streaming is a bit difficult. Would go to Youtube but they're missing a few channels I watch often.

Important to point out a YouTube TV account allows up to 5 on the account. Each can stream up to 3 devices at one time...........So, I share the $49/month with a friend. Between Utube TV and Amazon Prime, I have hundreds of choices.......And local stations for local news.

Had been a Dish customer for 26 years.......Bill slowly crept up for no good reason.......When it hit $124 a month, I'd had enough........

I had another motive to get away from Direct TV. The company was not at all customer friendly and didn't seem to know what they were doing. Direct TV was purchased by AT&T and half the notices I got and all the bills were from AT&T. I ended with a Direct TV account and an AT&T account. I got a couple of months payments behind when I first started the service because I ignored AT&T emails. Little did I know they were about my DTV account. I called with a problem once and they charged me $5 to talk to them on the phone! They said they had on-line options for problem resolution that was free, but if you wanted to talk to Aakriti in India you had to pay them.
When I finally kicked them to the curb the guy on the phone said all I had to do was haul all the equipment to a FED-EX store and they would pack it and ship it. A couple of days later I got an email saying they would ship a box to me to pack the crap in and then I should take it to FED-EX. Got to FED-EX and the woman said they can't take it because it has a USPS label on it. USPS said they don't ship for AT&T anymore. Finally begged them to try to ship it.
Dealing with Direct TV/AT&T was a total pain from the very beginning and I'm glad I'm rid of them.
