If everyone is made equal at the finish line, why bother to run?

It’s the alternative to admitting that 40 years of ill-advised government social engineering has failed horribly.

Notice that we’re having fewer runners.

There are many people, including some here, who believe the government should use the labor of working citizens to pay for, at a minimum, complementary housing, food, education, transportation and healthcare to every person who would rather not work and provide for themselves.

They used to be called welfare or entitlements, but now some go as far as to say those are “rights.”

Too many are getting paid to be spectators.

Spectators? That would require showing up on time and watching.
Sounds dangerously like work.

That means if a certain racial group doesn’t achieve well at something or is disinterested in it (high school proficiency, SAT scores, etc) that thing must be eliminated.
I laughed when they included the Asians in there. They have always done very well in academics but to be PC, they are now clumped into this group.

There is no equality at the finish line.

Never has been. Never will be.

This is likely a warning shot to employers.

"all of these job applicants are equally qualified as evidenced by this high school diploma that all of these job applicants possess."

"yet, you (the employer) have failed to hire demographic X at a rate equal to demographic WHITE."

In the US Asians have historically been unencumbered by government “help”.

But other racial groups and the media are trying hard to drag Asians into the “systemic racism” victim camp. See, e.g., “Stop Asian Hate” campaigns every time there is even a single random act of violence that happens to involve an Asian.

Hopefully Asians continue to resist that.

I see many of the younger ones have drunk the cool-aid and are singing the same damn song. Hate the white or the establishment.

I have been saying this for a number of years now. Its not racial, its social economics. Who's the next successful group, I think many are already in the upper middle class segment? Yep, you got it, so they are the next targeted group. I think its already happenning. Look at the BS they are spilling in education about not having this or that group for the top schools in NYC. " we have too many Asians" and yet its all based on merit not skin color. Yep they are trying hard to pull then into it.

Yes, I’ve seen it too, the colleges are working on them and it’s hard for kids to resist. Not be “popular,” etc. It’s a lot of pressure.
Ironically, I don’t think their (current college age Asians) kids are going to succeed as much as they did. They won’t grow up with the same values.

You know, like everything else, it takes a few generations to rid of the hard working, blast through no matter what the circumstances and keep on marching forward mentality. Sad to see it go away.

I know a Vietnamese young man that was dumped somewhere in TX, came to CA to meet up with family that he had not seen in 10 years and survived in a hell hole of an apt. Worked his way up at the dealership and now his kids owns a very successful toyota specific repair shop with 7 employee. Yep, he's my toyota mechanic. Those people went through hell and arrived on our shores with just a shirt on his back. His other daughter is cardiologist now. If the system is racist, why the hell would his family make it into upper class America? it pisses me off that the left or media drags these people into the same group and tries to brain wash them.

I ahve teenagers in the house. I am not sure how to instill that old fashion hard working mentality into them. I am afraid I may fail them.

Stop and think a moment about what high school is.

It should be the hymilayas of education.
With a high school degree, there should not be much else to climb higher.
It is the culmination of 12+ years of education.

Apparently my high school diploma is more valuable then my wife's four year degree.

The Asian people I have known are some of the hardest working people I’ve ever met (regardless of how much education they have).

Perhaps not everyone will notice something buried here. I can wait...

You mean that a high school degree of 50 years ago is worth more in terms of useful knowledge than many college degrees today? I tend to agree with that...

Nope. And I don't agree with that assessment unless you're talking about a terrible college...
