Sturgis is a proven super spreader.

Why? Likely due to indoors crowds with no wax, no mask, etc.

Other events have been more careful.

I was in Oshkosh and you're wrong. No masks, bussing everyone from the parking areas, large crowds everywhere.
So back to your propaganda.

What?
I point out two events with approximately the same attendance, one is in the news being a super spreader event the other is not. Talk about cling tightly to your delusions.
Where do you get this right- winger bs from?

This would be funny if not for people killing themselves.

With the drug booms came booms in poisonings. In January, poison control centers across the US received three times the number of ivermectin-related calls compared with the prepandemic baseline, the CDC reported. In July, ivermectin calls have continued to increase sharply, reaching a fivefold increase from baseline. The calls have also been linked to a rise in ivermectin-related emergency department and hospital visits.

The CDC alert highlighted two cases, one in which an adult drank an injectable ivermectin formulation intended for use in cattle in an attempt to prevent COVID-19 infection. The person experienced confusion, drowsiness, visual hallucinations, and tremors and spent nine days in the hospital. Another adult was hospitalized after taking ivermectin tablets of unknown strength that were bought off the Internet. The person took five pills a day for five days and developed an "altered mental status," in which they were disoriented and unable to answer questions or follow commands.

I was in Oshkosh again this year too. People were on the buses for 10 minutes, sober and generally quiet. Nearly everything else about that event is outdoors or was distance encouraged. Maybe 10-20% of people indoors or on buses were masked.

Have you been to Sturgis during the rally? It's not reasonably comparable to Airventure.

Interesting observation - I just got back from a week in Germany/Switzerland. Everyone is required to wear masks indoors. Everyone complied. There was no complaining or grandstanding or whining. Just people wearing masks.

Very pleasant.

It is " reasonably comparable" they both had crowds of approximately the same size.
" Sober and generally quiet" are these what make it a super spreader event? ( Drinking and talking)
" distance encouraged" where did you get this from?
Obviously your just making stuff up to minimize the behavior of the EAA crowed then exploit the behavior of the Sturgis crowd.

I don't understand why mask wearing is a hill worth dying on, figuratively and literally. It's such an inconsequential inconvenience and if it slows the spread of a deadly virus during stints indoors with crowds, why is it such a sticking point for so many?

I don't think wearing a mask is effective when a virus is involved. Sure it stops spits/mucus from ones mouth/nose hence the reason for surgeons to wear surgical mask when operating.

To stop a virus from transmitting we all would need to live in a 'bubble' suit like these used in a lab:

I'm sure most of you have seen this before:

I ask others to remove the mask when I correspond with them since I lipread. Most folks comply and some are fearful to remove it.

Regular masks protect others a good bit. The wearer not so much. Are you that cynical that you think the CDC and the medical community recommend them just to hassle you?

Because Americans are idiots. It's a proven fact at this point.

And here's a feel-good story for Island! The cousin of one of my best friends died yesterday from Covid. She somehow went 60 years without realizing that she did not have a "functioning immune system." Can you imagine that? It acted like it was working for 60 years but it was defective all along!

I'm hearing a lot of first hand stories like this. Is there any message that you'd like me to pass along to the family? Like maybe that she should have been doing the horse wormer? Or maybe just a general, "better luck next time?"

https://www.zerohedge.com/covid-19/ends-debate-israeli-study-shows-natural-immunity-13x-more-effective-vaccines-stopping

Dr. Anthony Fauci and the rest of President Biden's COVID advisors have been proven wrong about "the science" of COVID vaccines yet again. After telling Americans that vaccines offer better protection than natural infection, a new study out of Israel suggests the opposite is true: natural infection offers a much better shield against the delta variant than vaccines.

The study was described by Bloomberg as "the largest real-world analysis comparing natural immunity - gained from an earlier infection - to the protection provided by one of the most potent vaccines currently in use." A few days ago, we noted how remarkable it was that the mainstream press was finally giving voice to scientists to criticize President Biden's push to start doling out booster jabs. Well, this study further questions the credibility of relying on vaccines, given that the study showed that the vaccinated were ultimately 13x as likely to be infected as those who were infected previously, and 27x more likely to be symptomatic.
