Something funny with the phone systems these days?
Had to find a plumber, but didn't receive a call-back even from those with secretaries I was on good terms with. One cancelled and claimed they'd left a message earlier that week. The plumber said he'd had phone problems and lost business as well.
A few weeks ago I took someone to the hospital and lost signal after leaving. I figured the hospital had a blocker but there was still no signal after getting home. Did a power-cycle (battery out and held power) and it took a couple minutes to connect to the towers after startup. First time that happened and of course was the worst timing. I was waiting for the pickup call. Today I called someone over half a dozen times on two different phones. Only twice did it ring, but when he answered he couldn't hear anything. Another person had the same experience trying to reach him.

There have been some "no service" bugs due to software/versions/hardware/etc lately...

No issues that I know of for mobiles in Aus but land lines have been awful lately.
- Unreliable and the voice quality/sound is really bad. I suspect they've been quietly converting traditional land lines to VOIP.

No issues here, T-mobile, iPhone, and way, way out in the country.
