Is it just me or...?

Have toothpaste tubes gotten smaller?

Seems many years ago, a tube would last me and the missus 2+ months. It was so long that I probably didn't recall the favorite brand if I went shopping.

Now? Seems we run out in a month or less.

Don't think my consumption has increased. My kids don't use my paste. I assume that someone at the toothpaste mothership reduced size?

Seriously been wondering this. Thanks.

My compliments to the cost accountant.

You can find 1/2 gallon Blue Bell in NC.

I think the rest of the industry has gone to single serving 1.5 QT size.

Prices go up over time, but then people lose their minds, so companies have realized that they can keep prices the same or nearly the same if they shrink the packages. It's not unusual to see things that used to be 16oz (1 lb or 1 pint) that are now 14oz, 12oz, etc.... If things aren't in a smaller package, then there's a chance that they are whipped full of air or the package is the same size but only 2/3 full.

I think another part of the problem is that we don't use things like we used to. Growing up, you probably didn't make a peanut butter and jelly sandwich with 1/2" of peanut butter and a 1/2" of jelly slathered on the bread.

Brushing your teeth probably doesn't require a full brush full of toothpaste like they always show in the ads.
How much the toothpaste companies want you to use (based on the shots in their ads)

How much you probably need

Rolls of toilet paper are narrower. I posted about this a while ago. I think they did it again recently.

Guinness, Stella Artois, Evian, and other sellers are reducing to 11.2oz beverages.

(A comment from : https://www.beeradvocate.com/community/threads/11-2oz-bottles.617254/)
"It's simple. 11.2 oz is 331.22 milliliters. Rounding down ever so slightly, it's 330 ml. Which is the size of a single beer in most of the rest of the world. Considering that, literally, the rest of the world is on the metric system, it makes sense to package beer in containers that the rest of the world understands.

BTW, sugar used to come in 5 lb. bags. Now it's 4 lbs. Mayonnaise used to come in 32 oz. jars. Now it's 30 oz. Are you going to stop buying those also? And don't even think of asking your grandparents or great-grandparents about the size of a chocolate bar when they were kids."

Some things I do not mind at all.
I don't want a caulk tube of 5yo toothpaste. Nor a 40oz pop. Nor a 24 pack of frozen sausages which have to be split up.
Some of it makes sense if a company is selling a product on the international market.
Some of it is just surviving in the upcoming inflation market.

It does increase packaging waste though.

The beer size reduction has been around for years. I’ve only seen it with imports like Stella and sadly, Franziskaner.

NO! They are now MEGA rolls! 4 rolls in 1!

I'm pretty sure like other stuff, they are quantifying them differently. Maybe it's "1 roll with 4 times as many sheets" but the sheets are all an inch shorter or some crap like that.

Then there's the deal of getting a soda or beer someplace where the bottom 2" of the mug is air.
