Buck 112
i’ve got a lot of nice knives…spyderco PM2 and others, Benchmade 940, falkniven, GEC, Case, Mcusta etc…
the Buck 112 that was just delivered to me is the sharpest knife out of the box i’ve ever bought. i love it so much i just ordered a Buck 55. this thing is heavy but makes me want to go into the kitchen and cut things only complaint is the pivot is a little gritty. i’m sitting here watching tv working the pivot back and forth and dropped the blade down on my finger and left an inch and a half slice. never owned a Buck. what an outstanding USA made knife at a great price

Sweet. I love mine. I found mine broken on a job site. About 3/4” of the tip snapped off. I sent it back and they fixed it for $10.
They mailed it back to me before I paid and never told me how to pay them. No invoice, no number, nothing. I called them and PayPaled them. It rides in my hunting backpack full time. It is so sharp. I want the 55, but it seems over priced

ordered a horizontal sheath from Nikolov on etsy
cost more than the knife but the knife deserves it ![]()

I buy a lot of Great Eastern Cutlery small slip joint knives and they are mostly over $100 so the 55 actually seemed like a very fair price to me but, reviews are a little mixed about its fit/finish so we shall see

I thought I have had one for over 30 years, just looked where I thought it was, not there. Damn. It was a great knife.

I've carried Buck knives pretty much all of my life. Pretty hard to beat for the price. I do have a number of rather spendy hand made custom knives as well, but they are really more "show" than "go". Oh, they are functional, but about the first time you lose one on an elk hunt, or have one "confiscated" (i.e. stolen) by some schitthead third world customs official, you start to question the need to hunt with a $500 knife.
Here are my three that have served me well for decades. A 110+ folder for just general carry and use, a 692 that I carry while hunting as my field dressing / skinning knife, and a 119 X that pretty much just stays in camp for general duty there (it's really just too big to carry). ![]()

A couple of my Bucks.
My brother surprised me with the smaller one as a birthday gift a couple years ago.

I've been carrying these two around for more than 40 years.
Sorry, not Buck.

Below is the 110 I bought in 1971 for $16. Adjusted for inflation, that would supposedly be $108 today. Next to it is a favorite with a titanium handle I bought when Buck had their sale before moving out of the San Diego area.

I love my Benchmades.
The lock back thing is just not nearly as convenient. This is an interesting 112 though. The Buck 112 Slim Pro G10 handle ![]() "marbled carbon fiber" handle. ![]()

112 next to another knife popular with military guys in vietnam, the Case Copperhead
always felt the Case was heavy but compared to the 112, the Copperhead is definitely a pocket knife ![]() Last edited by ramonesfreak; 08-23-2021 at 03:44 PM.. |

i got the 55 the other day. it’s a nice little very sharp knife. But, the blade centering when closed is way off. left side of blade is just about touching the liner. doesn’t effect performance at all but blade centering is something i am anal about. not easy to fix on a slip joint knife. well, there is an easy fix using a hammering technique but it’s a little risky
is it worth $60? i would be happier if it only cost $40
