Spoon accoutrements, red dot and belly ban
Until I get my S&W Airlite back I am carrying a S&W .40 auto (CHP issue). I'm thinking of a belly band carry with a red dot sighting to replace the rear iron sight.
Any thoughts from the collective?

I have a belly band and use it when riding my bikes.

Yes on the belly band, no on the red dot. Red dots just add too much bulk to be all that great for concealed carry.

Boy howdy did I ever learn that expensive lesson. I bought a RD for my G19 and it is YUGE! It looks more at home on the .223 Ruger

I don't the obsession with red dots on CC weapons.
CC is most likely going to be inside the 7 yard generalization and if you can't make a shot from that distance get some ammo and practice (or get some training). If you are looking for Home Defense then a red dot or laser makes more sense. Even little micro pocket pistols in 380 have lasers. That is more of a backup/get off of me weapon than a long range firearm. Also, what is up with every long gun needs a scope? Saw a bullpup with a scope? Really?

Another pass on the red dot. I've never seen anyone at the range shoot them accurately. They then to make people think they can just point and shoot, making them more likely to forget trigger and flinch control. And I hate battery-powered stuff on a CCW gun.

tritium sights would be my preference for most handguns.

And, yeah - batteries on a device you might need to stake your life on in a nanosecond? How often have we tapped a dead flashlight in the palm of our hand, tapped on the side of some other battery powered device, or whatever? No way in hell...

I use a reflex for Airsoft on a P90 and it is great because it is just inches from your eye so it is very easy to aquire and the battery can be replaced before an event. For my carry gun it is tritium iron sights.
