Favorite quote
"The staff keeps a Rolls-Royce out front with the engine running 24-7 ('just in case' he ever needs to break and run for the airport). The Rolls-Bentley staff prayed in case of revolt the natives would torch the garage, otherwise the used Rolls-Bentley market worldwide would have been flooded for years to come."

Don't know how I'm suppose to react to the article. Sounds like he is letting a lot of 80's and 90's supercars fall apart. Seems most to them are created to his weird taste, not such a big deal in my book. Not like I could ever afford them anyway.

"Deserve" has nothing to do with having money. Some of the most retched people I've met have money.

I have always wondered how Rolls and Ferrari were able to stay in business. It seems that there are some very dumb, very rich people that help those folks out. Didn't the article say something like 475MM to Rolls? 78MM to Ferrari? It has been a day since I read this so my numbers are just a WAG.
I just can't seem to forget it. One of us would absolutely treasure many of the cars in this collection. The world is a funny place. Larry |

I'd rather see some photos of the wives and the harem.

Re reading the entire article... It just seemed so pointless.
Why have so many cars and not be able to drive them? And why did he need a Rolls Royce running 24/7 in front of his house? Wouldn't one sitting there ready to go be just as good? I mean they should start first time being a RR ![]() I always find it interesting seeing how the rich live and what they spend their money on. It's never made a lot of sense to me. It's like they're never happy and it's never enough. Sure people should be rewarded for their hard work but when you see something like this it makes you wonder. ![]() ![]()

Something about that F40 doesn't seem right. Maybe it's a replica?

I traveled to Brunei on business fairly often in the early 1990's, and have a thousand stories about the Sultan. He's a very strange dude.
One time one of my clients was there to sell armored Mercedes limos to the Sultan. The Sultan gathered a few family members in a viewing stand near the palace while my client and his helpers drove by with an assortment of these limos to demonstrate their maneuverability. As they drove through the slalom course, the Sultan and his staff took pot shots at them with automatic weapons. My client nearly shat himself. Another time I was booked on a Brunei Airways flight from Brunei to KL. On a 757. It was the last flight of the day. When I got onboard, there was a net suspended half way down the cabin, and the rear of the cabin had the seats taken out and was filled with the Sultans polo ponies—which had to be in KL the next morning for a match. Amazing flight with a dozen horses in the passenger cabin! His car collection is legendary in Asia. Among other things, he has a bunch of replica 1960 Mercedes Gullwings that the factory built for him at vast expense—with new mechanicals (including air-conditioning) of course, but otherwise indistinguishable from the original article. And he loved Ferrari station wagons for some reason. You would see the regularly in Brunei—all purpose built for the Sultan in very strange colors. The strangest car I ever saw was an elongated Rolls Royce pick-up truck which was built to transport his dogs around the palace grounds. But the best gossip always had to do with the cat-fights between his various wives and mistresses. Those were truly the stuff of legend.

Every modeling agency in town used to get regular solicitations for whore work for that guy and others like him, with fees that would make the agents very rich. The smart women turned it down because if it ever gets out later, they're road-kill in any real social or dating world.
