Have you MetallicA fans watched the MTV Icon ?
Just curious in seeing how many Porsche drivers are Met fans. Ive been one since 82 myself.
But for the fans that are here, did you hear the last song they played, Frantic. Thats their new song on the new album. Does`nt seem Loadish to me .,,., not that I had a problem with the loads. ![]()

Worthy hour and a half of T.V. After all these years it's amazing how well the guys can still play! New bassist seems good enough...time will tell. What was the real reason Jason Newstead left the band? I'll be buying the new album the day it comes out.

What?!?!
|
From the beginning, Jason has been saving his money for the future. The future is here for him and he wanted to pursue other music ventures. Sponsor small bands, find new bands and help the good ones. He loves the small kicka$$ bands that have'nt been "found" yet. He knows because he was there. He played here in Phoenix for years and I know people that knew him ( allegedly
![]() I live in the Phoenix area and from time to time hear he's going to be at this bar, or that bar with a band he's promoting. The rock station here has said similar things about him. I have not heard any of the new stuff but I'm anxious. Who's the bassist? Fav Met song? There are many. But 'One' is hard to beat.

Metallica died for me the day they released the black album. I remember when it used to be a badge of honor to wear a Metallica shirt.

For me, Metallica died with Cliff (RIP). I can't listen to anything past "justice", and even that album doesn't really thrill me.
I remember an interview with Newsted from a few years ago when he was asked to respond to the claims that they had "sold out". His response was something like yeah, every time we play. I remember thinking how sad that was. For the record, I don't think they "sold out", I just don't like what they sound like anymore. For me, that is especially bad because I think they might be the most talented band out there. My favorite songs: From Kill em All: Four Horsemen From Ride the Lightning: Trapped Under Ice From Master of Puppets: Battery |

I agree, Cliff Burton was a madman on the bass. Probably one of the best there was.
My favs: Creeping Death Whiplash Four Horsemen Disposable Heroes |

The real reason Jason left was because of him not being able to do his side projects, during the down times of MetallicA. James wouldnt alow it.He didnt want anything to interfer with the band.I thought it was a little weak that Jason had to claim he had neck problems, and thats why he left. He should have just been honest.
I still have that Flotsam & Jetsam album, Doomsday for the Deceiver. Great album, he did write the whole thing. Don Davis. Watch MTV Icon, here are the times and dates it will re air.,.,., Friday May 9 2003 2:00 PM Saturday May 10 2003 5:30 PM Sunday May 11 2003 1:30 PM Sunday May 11 2003 8:30 PM The New Bassplayer is Robert Trujillo. He use to be with Suicidal Tendences, then formed Infectious Grooves. Then he went over and has been with Ozzy for his last 4 albums, and he also did the bass playing on Jerry Cantrells, Anger Rising album. IMO, he`s a better player then Jason, not that Jason is bad, he is a great bass player, I just feel Rob is better. Jared.,.,.,you should check out the Icon show, and listen to the last song they play, "Frantic". its nothing like the Black Album and on. Its more like the old days.At least watch trhe last 15 mins of the Icon, they play 4 of there old songs, and 1 new one. Creeping death was one of the songs they play. Cliff was the man.,.,..,.,god do we miss him.,.,.,.,he was one of the best.(Jaco Pastorious was the best). """""His response was something like yeah, every time we play. I remember thinking how sad that was.""""" Why was that sad. He ment, they sell out every arena and stadium they play.

I know that's what he meant. I don't really know why it bothered me, I guess to me it meant that as long as they fill stadiums everything is okay. I really don't know how to explain it. You saw "Cliff 'em all" right? I don't think you would have heard them say something like that back then. I could be wrong here, I just see a change in attitude. Maybe I took it the wrong way, to me it just exuded this arrogance that didn't sit well with me.
BTW, I saw them a few years ago on new years eve at the silverdome and I must say they are still one of the best "live" bands I have ever seen. |

They started their decline with black album. Trujilo is a great bass-player though...
