Saturday morning we made a last minute decision to blow off farming this weekend amd drive 200 miles so my son could enter a night race with his go kart… I had to distill our race trailer down to what would fit in the box of my Tundra including the kart, fuel jug, air tank, and kart stand… I picked him up after swim lessons and we made a beeline north. The race was fun even though the final heat got cancelled for weather.
![]() We got home at 1:30 AM and had planned to go dirt biking with friends at a public land use area with a bunch of technical single track I wanted to explore. We get there at about 3:30 and found our friends. We thought we should do an easy trail since my daughter just started riding this year… The ‘easy’ quad trail was mislabeled on the map and very quickly became 20 miles of single track scrambles (up and down) with lots of loose rock and shale outcrops on the steep bits. We got through it, it was fun, and WAY over my daughters ability so she learned a pile today. There was one hill where us dads took the kids bikes down the hill before climbing back up to ride our bikes down. ![]() ![]() Getting my son up for school in the morning will be an ordeal. I’m glad I was able to do this with the kids this weekend. I’ve been too busy most of the summer trying to keep the wheels on the wagon and decided that I needed to be a bit more of a dad.

Nice!
Nothing like dirt biking to blow out the Covid stagnation. |
