Chevy Van artists rendering.

I have always liked vans and imparticular the Astro/safari vans. As of late most vans are pretty boring or down right ugly with the exception of maybe the new Pacfic and Kia Carnival. An artist did a rendering of a new Chevy van based on the Silverado 1500. This is supposed to be a minivan Astro/safari. I think this is pretty cool looking and would be a hit. Even cooler if it was full size.

GM should have never discontinued the Astro/Safari without having something ready to take that spot in their lineup. Most service vehicles around here were Astro/Safari vans for the 20 years they were produced.

A tough looking van like that would sell well. Everybody misses the old 1992-2014 full frame Ford Econoline that had flared fenders and a macho look. Sportsmobile poptop campers look the business on an Econoline van. The Transit that replaced it looks like an overinflated Ford Fiesta. Sprinters drive amazing...they make an Econoline feel like an ox cart. But they are way overpriced. A GM priced Sprinter size van that took styling cues from the van above would sell like hotcakes.

We still have a half dozen Astros/Safaris that we use to run parts between our buildings and occasionally when the Service guys need to commute with a group of guys. One is even the original small version with the 4 cylinder and 4 speed manual. They have given good service. We have worn out a half dozen Caravans since the Astros were new. I had a 1997 Safari, LWB, AWD that I bought for my wife when we were expecting our third child. Front seat room wasn't generous, handling was ponderous. It worked well for us.

The neat thing about the Pacifica is that the rear wiper is the aft most point, so if you back into a wall it breaks the rear window

That van stirs my loins more than many new sports car offerings. Edit-the perfect 21st century paddy wagon. Last edited by LEAKYSEALS951; 09-22-2021 at 04:10 PM..

The Real deal. Owned since new, built, fabricated the custom cruiser roof, frenched, cut, painted by world famous drag racer Steve Foster in Santa Maria. He still has it as well as the coupe sitting next to the Chevy Van.
