If you need or will need BP powder or BP substitutes hurry up and find some to order. I've seen it at Grafs, PowderValley and Midsouth of late

Various GOEX plants have been closed or have burned down in the 40-some odd years I've been shooting black powder. GOEX has been sold at least a couple of times as well. I'm sure someone will buy it and continue manufacture. There is a substantial demand for the stuff that many are not aware of, for industrial use, that far outstrips any sporting use. That void will not go unfilled for long.
As a matter of fact, that industrial use that really drives production has resulted in a less than satisfactory product from GOEX for a lot longer than I have been shooting black powder. Most knowledgeable, serious black powder shooters won't touch the stuff. It is both down on energy and leaves a very hard, dry fouling compared to authentic "sporting" black powders from other manufacturers. I have been using Swiss black powder for almost 30 years. It's superior in every way. So, yeah, this isn't really as "bad" of news as some might expect. Every other choice on the market today, at least as far as sporting black powders, is far superior to GOEX. And there is no shortage of any of it, unlike smokeless powders.
