how do I uninstall an OS?

Can anybody tell me how I go about uninstalling and installing an operating system? I have Windows 95 and I want to install Windows 98.

Thanks!

There are two different versions of 98 that you can get; the full version or the upgrade version. If you have the upgrade, you don't need to uninstall anything, just install 98 and it will work fine. Actually, I think you can do the same thing even with the full version. I'm pretty sure that either way you don't need to uninstall anything.

Hi Rusty,

Try visiting this page:
http://www.waterwheel.com/Guides/tips/Win98/Upgrading/upgrading_from_windows_95_to_98.htm
for some good info on doing an upgrade.

I might add, however, if you really want an upgrade (depending on your system) you should look into upgrading to Windows 2000

If he's running Win95 now, Win2k is probably not an option on his eqpt.

Not necessarily so. Minimum requirements for W2K are a Pentium 133 and 32 Mb of RAM. I've actually had this working on a laptop, it was a bit clunky, but doubling the RAM to 64 MB (Microsoft's recommended minimum) did wonders.
