Not arrested?
I was on a group ride near Lake Tahoe and the main group got coal rolled. I guess it's a thing. Any ideas on the motivation?

I'm thinking the kid wasn't held or arrested because Texas knows how much money they will save when someone offs the kid. Nothing short of tying him to a bike and throwing him off a bridge will suffice. But if someone removes his head with a 12 gauge, I'll settle for that.

And I don't even like cyclists that much.

Because some folks are morons that thinks it's funny to screw with other people. The kid needs a major attitude adjustment.

A fitting punishment would be a criminal conviction and banned from all forms of transport - other than a bicycle, for two years.

Yea, he needs to spend time in a real prison. Attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon. If nothing else the bikers need to be suing for everything he has. Take that truck and have it crushed as he watches. Put him in debt for years.

I want to meet his parents...these folks were athletes training for a triathlon. I am sure his Dad is a Prince.

I was an avid bike rider in the 70's until I was T-boned on my bike in 1980. I nearly lost my life. Most of my riding (centuries, club events, group rides - I never raced because I simply wasn't that good) was in California and South Carolina.

I never once had an issue in either place, and I rode on some very rural roads in SC. Different time, I guess. I never met a 16-year-old that would threaten a grown man on a bike, on foot, on anything.

Not one issue.

Being 16 isn't an excuse. Bring me his parents.

i dont know much about Diesel pickups. but dont they need to do some mods to make them blow smoke like that? i seem to remember they need to push a button to enrich the mix and then they floor it.

i say pipe that crap back into the cab and make them breath the stuff themselves as a punishment.

i had one do it to me on a road in my old town. he missed me and the group i was in (not friends, just going the same way). but he tried. then we kept going and saw him head to a busy red light intersection. the phussy ran the red light to get away from us because he knew we were going to catch him at the light. big man behind the wheel. the other mtn bikers didnt speak english but i understood enough to know they were on the lookout for the fool. hahaha.

I've been coal rolled many times, part of riding in Texas I guess.

I've also been on group rides where rednecks in pickup trucks give us grief. Pretty funny when they get caught at the next stop light and 20 very fit men catch up to them. They usually get friendly very fast.

Since these guys were training for an Ironman, I expect all bikes were in the $5-10K range. Add medical and lifeflight costs and this kid and his parents are looking from a couple hundred thousand to over a million dollars in damages.

I'm sure you all remember when the motorcycle mob in NY surrounded a guy with his family in an SUV and he ran, but they eventually caught him and dragged him out of his vehicle. In that case, the guy in the SUV, IMO, was in the right, and the bikers were in the wrong.

In this case, the kid is lucky that the cyclists didn't drag him out of his truck and beat him senseless. But, the guy that was interviewed seemed a bit smarter than that, and I'm sure the major concern were the folks that were run down.

The kid doesn't deserve to die, but he deserves to be scared like he might.

We had an incident in Kalamazoo where a drunk man in his 40's ran over a group of six bicyclists and killed 4 of them.

He never expressed sorrow for it in court and is in for life.

That's the perfect place for him other than maybe 6' down.

My fun car draws coaltards like lutherans to Jell-o. NONE of them stand a chance against it but they all seem to believe a T-P bumper sticker and KingKong exhaust are worth like a thousand HP. Morons.

Most of them just run a super rich tune, so when they floor it, they dump so much extra fuel that it makes the cloud.

I hated seeing all these idiots in the diesel truck groups. They go from posting about their coal rolling to crying about emissions crack downs. None of them found it funny when I pointed out that they were living with the consequences of their own actions. The more they roll coal like jackasses, the more people want them restricted.

This kid sounds like a grade A douche, I hope he does some serious time and the bikers sue his parents for damages.

Toilet paper bumper sticker?

I started carrying a .38 when riding a bicycle in Texas.

One time I had two guys on BMX bikes accost me riding my ten speed on the American River Parkway. Ran away from them, caught up with an older guy and rode along with him. Told him what happened. He stops. I tell him they had a knife, we better keep going. He rolls his eyes picks up a stout looking branch and sets up on a curve where we could see them coming. He steps out and gives them a taste of that big stick. He throws both their bikes and the knife in the river. Comes back and tells them how lucky they were they attacked someone else's kid, not his. It was pretty bizarre. Hewas just some random dude. I just wanted to ride along with him, and he tuned those guys up pretty good.

I was a road cyclist for many years. I quit riding on the road about 10 years ago because of this sort of crazy, and a massive increase in population in my area where all the prior farmland and mountain area roads where I would ride becoming full of houses and commuters.

Most of my buddies who still ride on the road now run camera systems in their helmet or on their bike, similar to a dash cam.
