Same for me. As a 65+ geezer I have had my third China flu vaccination. I will wear masks when in a crowd. I was sick once, I did not like at all, so I don't want to do that again.

sorry speeder. did not see your response. ditto

Thank you all for your responses and PMs. I've been reliving the 70s in flashbacks... though we grew apart during college. Mom was recalling fitting him with one of dad's ties once .... (I have no clue :D), but all through junior & senior high.... inseperable. Two of his brothers too .... all neighborhood boyz... a whole pack of us :).

I'm just hoping ... despite the "gut punch" news and reality.

To be clear, all I've heard was "put on a vent", and I might have caused confusion by saying oxygen. Saw local hospital stats a couple of days ago.... virtually full ICUs... many are Covid, only a small % are vaccinated. My 89 yr old aunt was in the hospital three times last year with it... without first rate medical care and four daughters (one a nurse) taking charge and care also....

She's doing great :)

I keep thinking positive.... got to.... thanks all!

No apology needed, I really appreciate you commenting. We could use you on a few other threads where the misinformation flows.

speeder 10-01-2021 09:37 AM

And KC, praying for your friend. Everyone gets oxygen, a vent tube is a different story. Hoping for the best.

Most people who go on a vent do not survive.

That is why you want to start treating it long before you are on a vent, ounce of prevention, pound of cure and all that.

We all know what approach has been chosen here.

I'd like to see you spell it out, please.

Robbie died this morning...

LEAKYSEALS951 10-01-2021 12:58 PM

Sorry to hear. :(

61, Covid, and on a "vent" ... serious question.

Sorry KC.

speeder 10-01-2021 01:03 PM

So sorry to hear. These tragedies are piling up across the USA and they are compounded if they could have been prevented. RIP to your friend and comfort to his loved ones, including you. :(

beepbeep 10-01-2021 01:04 PM

Ah, damn. :(

People, get vaccinated. It's not a flu.

I agree with the first sentence, same with the second if it's possible in the individual case, (some people wait too long before seeking medical help)...not sure what is meant by the last sentence.

Steve Carlton 10-01-2021 01:06 PM

I'm sorry, KC.

upsscott 10-01-2021 01:24 PM

Dammit. You ever feel like the walls are closing in? So sorry for your loss.

PorscheGAL 10-01-2021 01:28 PM

I am so sorry for your loss, KC.

oldE 10-01-2021 01:41 PM

KC ,
So sorry to hear about your life long friend.
I know a part of your heart feels like it has been ripped from you. In time perhaps the memories of Robbie will fill in the missing bits.

Best
Les

Bob Kontak 10-01-2021 01:43 PM

You have my sympathies. I am so very sorry.

herr_oberst 10-01-2021 01:48 PM

Man, that's hard to hear. So sorry KC...
