Very sorry for your loss, KC.

Stephanie, you and the rest of the medical community are Angels. I cannot even imagine. Medical people must be traumatized by all this. Seriously. Going into harm's way every day. Watching people die in isolation from their loved ones. Surgeries needed which cannot happen right now because of Covid. I'd guess some medical people are pretty conflicted about treating deathly-ill Covid patients who chose not to be vaccinated. Those people committed suicide, I think, and they may have killed others in the process.

sincere condolences.

i'm attending my uncle's celebration of life this Saturday. he died from covid related complications. a belated "celebration" - he succumbed previous to the vaccine becoming readily available.
he was the last of that generation, in my family tree.

THE DATA ARE VERY VERY CLEAR ON THIS:

if you are vaccinated and get covid , your chances of having a mild course, non life threatening disease, are GREATLY GREATLY INCREASED. this includes less risk of hospitalization , and , if you are hospitalized, a much faster discharge. almost every parameter of disease severity is reduced in vaccinated people.

so the vac. is not just preventative to infection, it largely charts the course of recovery if you are still infected.

(30 year ivy league MD-PHD virologist/professor here..)
A good friend of mine has a brother back in South Africa. Vacc'd with Astra Zeneca twice. His whole family came down with Covid. He got it pretty bad. Ended up hospital. By day three in hospital was back to good again. Docs said if wasn't vacc'd he'd have been put a vent. He's made a full recovery.

Sorry for your loss.

She never stepped foot in a hospital, they would have killed her.

I was pissed she waited 3 days, all because only so many tests per day.

Thank God we were able to get to her in time.

One thing I learned in 2004 when 2 hurricanes hit me back to back. You are on your own, make sure you can take care of yourself when the government collapses in your community. Mine did in 04, it was the best thing that ever happened to me. It forced me to think differently and be way more self sufficient.

KC- sorry about your friend, that sucks. No one deserves to die like that.

I'm glad to hear that your MIL recovered quickly but you have absolutely no idea whether the horse wormer you gave her had anything to do with it. In communities and groups of people who believe in it as a treatment and choose to be unvaccinated, people in the prime of life are dying left and right. In vaccinated people, it is not happening.

My sister, brother, 85 y.o. aunt and 3 cousins all had full-blown Covid-19 and recovered. Most people do, statistically. In the absence of a proper clinical trial showing that Ivermectin cures Covid, (with controls), you might as well take lots of vitamins and drink hot tea. Can't hurt but might not be doing anything. No such study exists. The available vaccines absolutely are proven to reduce hospitalization and death, to an extreme degree, over millions of cases.

Deaths such as the one in this thread and other people we all know are incredibly tragic if they were caused by misinformation on vaccines.

^^^^ This (Speeder's last part). Robbie "had it all" going for him. Don't be like Robbie...

If it weren't for my mom's social network (church prayer requests) and info from someone "connected" to Robbie's wife (social media), there has been ZERO public info ... nada. Their fitness center is closed... no info. I "hear" that "they" thought they were healthy enough to not need a vaccine so....

Robbie died needlessly imo.

I've got a real bad feeling she or their daughters might be dealing with more than shock and grief right now.

The lack of public info is just weird...

I think there is plenty of information out there, too much in many ways, and it's the folks who are getting it from sources that have twisted this into a right wing freedom agenda or some govt. driven conspiracy that are suffering for it.

My friends daughter works in the step down unit of one of our local hospitals. The number of people she's seen in there dying of this that are denying they have it, with family berating medical staff who also don't believe their loves ones are dying of covid, is heartbreaking. These folks have also "done their own research" and concluded the vaccine is a conspiracy, masks don't work and the doctors are "letting their dad/mom/husband/wife/brother/sister" die of something else. Exactly what they can't say.

I'm sorry for your loss and for what Robbie's family is going through. It does sound like this was preventable, which makes it harder to process.

^^^ I meant the lack of public info about Robbie.

She was his wife, biz partner, and personal trainer for decades... in my old 'hood. The silence is concerning me about the rest of his family (grown daughters too).

Folks that get their healthcare information from Business Insider, probably get their maintenance and repair info for their Porsche from Vogue.

You could have just as easily posted the article from the Vermont Daily Chronicle that noted that 76% of Vermont September Covid deaths were people that were fully vaccinated and then called folks who were vaccinated in Vermont "gullible cult victims."

Of course the article generally refers to anecdotal evidence of people that took Ivermectin unsupervised as a prophylaxis to prevent them from getting the disease...which is not what anyone has suggested here. Of course, other countries simply did not have the vaccine when we did as Project Warp Speed was an American initiative and we threw unbelievable amounts of money towards it...so it was not as widely available in some places as soon as here.

It seems not that long ago that our own (current) President and Vice President and other government leaders told us that a vaccine could not possibly be created/available by now and warned about taking the vaccine as it would be dangerous. No wonder people are confused and afraid to take it. Calling the unvaccinated "gullible cult victims" in a thread about a valued friend that died, likely unvaccinated, is really cold.

I’m surprised you don’t remember all of the negative comments from Biden and Harris last year, they badmouthed Trump and the vaccine constantly. If Trump had anything to do with it, they wouldn’t recommend it. Like this:
