Thanks for posting that. I'd have voted with May for the DS. Yes it's weird but it was a spaceship that influenced so many that camer after.

Thanks for posting it.
I have been re-watching all the Top Gear episodes from 2002 or when Jeremy Clarkson revived Top Gear to the last episodes with them. The episodes are on Amazon Prime and the Brit Box add on. Some episodes have been on BBC America on occasion, but many episodes I had never seen. That episode had a lot of outside presenters, and that is likely why it is not on the Amazon list of episodes. Some of the old episodes are classics and some were not that great. It is tough on us Americans when their "star in an affordable car" is some person I have never heard of, and is just not interesting.

The "contest" spanned so many categories.
In my mind, the Citroen DS was the most outstanding of the lot. I remember the first one I ever saw, back in the early '60s. Best Les

It is pretty much impossible to pick the best ever of anything. Like the best song or movie, too many opinions and what is important in a car to one is useless to another.
In my opinion the Model T would be it. It got Americans driving and at one point OVER have the cars on the road were a Model T. Look around sometime while in traffic, imagine 1/2 the vehicles being one model from just one manufacturer.

They all look the same now. Who would notice? Sedans, trucks, etc...

Greatest car ever? I'm surprised this is even a topic of discussion.
1935 Duesenberg SSJ. dual overhead cams, four valves per cylinder, and a centrifugal-type supercharger. Power output of 400 horsepower making it the most powerful pre-war car. Incredible styling, elegance, and engineering so near-perfect it is difficult to match even by today's standards. Value today of approx. $10 million ![]() ![]() |

How about the 1912 Cadillac. The first car ever to have electric start, and the pedals arranged like we use today.
It truly changed the way all cars are built for the last 100 years.
