Harley Nighttrain- price help

Hello Pelicans,

Trying to help an older friend who doesn't have a computer sell a 2004 Nighttrain. He has fallen ill and can no longer ride. I will be creating a FB Marketplace and a CL ad. I am not a motorcycle guy so I don't know what people look for in a bike to creat an ad. Also what is a realistic price for a;

2004 Nightrain

Dealer installed stage 3 motor
Combination speedo/tach
Corbet Seat ( I forget what he called it, night fighter, pilot or something?)
A dealer installed exhaust and pipes I forget the manufactirer?
Looks like the tach reads 4,913 miles?

In our market on FB I see a

2003 NT- $7,500- 9,000 miles, appears stock no mention of upgrades.
2005 NT- $8,500- Milage says 123,456 ( I assume that is BS milage) No mention of custom work

I guess this is the comp?

2004 NT- $8,500- 10,500 miles, 2004 night train bike has roughly 10,000 miles and will go up
Engine is a full screaming eagle stage 4.
103cu/103hp stroker 10.5:1 compression crane 304 cams. Bubs exhaust.
The bike is also lowered in the rear and has different triple trees. Rear tire is brand new.
The battery is brand new, all fluids and break pads just changed.
Over $5000 in receipts all work was performed by Atlantic County Harley. The bike had sat since 2010 until this year hence the low mileage. Will upload more pictures. Bike is extremely fast. 8500 cash and carry no test rides without cash in my hand.

Pics of friends Bike

Any input would be helpful.

If that's the correct mileage, that's super low. Bike looks very clean. With those mods. I'd start at low 9s.

Keep in mind the riding season in many areas has ended or very near the end . So lot's of bikes for sale . That may affect price and demand . Having said that the bike looks very clean and has desirable upgrades . Good luck

That is accurate mileage for something. Not sure if that is the frame or the Stage 3? I will need to get clarifcation. The bike came stock and then the motor done and other mods performed. I do not know when he had the Stage 3 was completed or even how a stage3 is done? Is that the same motor massaged or a differnet motor? I would assume they modify a stock motor?

My friend actually bought the bike for his son and had the work performed. The son never took posession of the bike and it sits in the garage. It was taken out from time to time just to keep it in working order. My friend rode one of the bigger Halreys. Due to his illness he is liquidating all the bikes.

You might change the word 'break' for 'brake' pads.

A stage 3 is basically upgraded fuel system, cams and a bigger bore on a factory motor.

Have you talked to a local dealer about putting it (and some others) on consignment?

You could compare with more bikes on CycleTrader site. Or chopperexchange website.

You may have a local business similar to this one in Seattle. They deal in used consignment bikes and maintenance. It was started several years ago by the guy who used to own the local Ducati dealership. He's built a nice business model.

Great looking low mileage bike that should be at the top of whatever the market is now. As mentioned already, not the best time of year to sell a bike in the cold parts of the country. Still, it will be the nicest one in that category. GLWS to him.

Just KBB'd this: $6800.00 stock. I would add 10% for the upgrades. $7500. rounded up slightly. I think that is close to about an actual sale price; given the end of the season as mentioned above.

Some of the add-ons may be too personalized for some people, may actually take away value like the flamed gun-fighter seat. Kinda like having sex with your new girlfriend
for the first time, you roll her over only to see another guy's name tattooed on her 'nether regions...……...

I hate it for you guys that talk of "end of the season." Just beginning here although it is possible to ride in the heat (which didn't come this year as much). Whatever the daytime highs are, there cool mornings all summer long.

Does Bring a Trailer sell bikes? Buyer pays shipping or split it.

BaT has bikes. It could be a great place to list it, but I don't think drcoastline is equipped to answer all the questions that will come up. A Harley dealer would have credibility, knowledge, and customers to draw on to sell the bike. And they'd be capable of all the transfer hassles. Just a suggestion if not well versed in the product.

Harley presents their dealer installed performance packages as various "stages". Stage 1 would be a freer flowing air cleaner and exhaust. Stage 2 would add performance cams to that. Stage 3 would add a big bore kit to all of that.

So, as a "Stage 3" motor, it has the freer flowing air cleaner, marketed as "Screamin' Eagle", but made by K&N. This includes both the housing itself and the filter element. The exhaust shown in the photo is a Thunder Header, one of the more desirable aftermarket systems. Really, really loud (which still appeals to some), but actually a good increase in power as well. It no doubt has a suitable pair of "Screaming' Eagle" cams, and maybe a gear drive conversion as well. The stock chain drive was problematic at first, but was well sorted by 2004, so even if it still has the stock chains, it's rock solid in this respect.

The biggest change that "Stage 3" offers is an increase in bore from 3 3/4" to 3 7/8", upping displacement from 88 ci to 95 ci. These are slip-in cylinders, which don't even require removing the motor from the frame.

The seat is actually a Corbin brand. One of the better aftermarket seats available for these things. Very popular. I have that same "Gunfighter" on my '76 Sporty, and ran their touring seat on my 2000 Road King.

Having this Stage 3 upgrade should help the selling price. Those are pretty low miles for a bike of that age as well. It should bring top dollar.

Like others have said, though, you are going into winter in Jersey. That isn't going to help. But, still that is a desirable Harley with the "right" upgrades done well. No cheap garbage, as seen on too many of these things.

Do you have the original seat and exhaust? If you do, make sure you point that out.
