No problem. My push mower barely does my 1/5th acre with a 60v battery. So I would just need 12 batteries at $200 each.

Woke environmental wackos don't care what it cost you.

Do the electric leaf blowers have some kind of safety feature that shuts them off when you point them toward the street?

KFC911 10-10-2021 04:34 PM

^^^^ Yep .... I have a 58V Echo blower .... good for blowing dust off my 2-cycle equipment, REAL blowers, and deck .... worthless for blowing anything to the CENTER of the street tho.
It sucks for blowing leaves of any quantity.... I have a backpack Echo and backpack Stihl for that. The 25hp cutoff limit for CA's stupidity will have pros using bigger, noisier, mowers if they already aren't above 25 hp..... just watch. Already there for many Z-turns here I suspect... or diesel Kubotos :).

This arcticle says "The new law will ban the sale of all off-road, gas-powered engines, including generators, lawn equipment, pressure washers, chainsaws, weed trimmers, and even golf carts." I wonder if this also includes ATV's, snow mobiles and the like/

https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/california-law-bans-small-off-road-gas-engines-including-lawnmowers-and-chainsaws/ar-AAPlrHE?ocid=msedgntp

California sure will be interseting to watch in a grid down situation.

Has zero to do with being electric.( I'm not giving up my gas powered equipment anytime soon...)

It has to do with people being inconsiderate pricks.

How does this impact the Forest Service?

otto_kretschmer 10-10-2021 07:21 PM

I had an electric mower when I lived in California. It wasn't battery powered but used a cord. I had 3 extension cords and that was enough to do the yards. I won't touch the battery powered tools. I don't mind hauling around extention cords.

I kept the mower outside and it lasted about 14 years. All I had to do to it was keep the blade sharp.

I've never done any calcs or read studies about the environmental impact of battery vs gasoline but my gut says a battery powered tool will need more energy to manufacture and support for its lifetime of use than a gasoline powered tool.

KFC911 10-11-2021 12:36 AM

^^^^ Yep.... particularly for pros. My Echo blower will actually move some air in "Turbo mode"... but a pro crew would need at least a dozen fully charged batteries for a day's work. So... mebbe 30-40 batteries total if all their hand held equipment uses them?

This is where the stupidity of the Ca govt and many citizens shows up. They give zero thought to other realities. Only their own little world with a 900 s/f lawn and 2” decorative bushes. Look at what HD says on this. Zero appreciation for how others live. Show folks like him a glossy pamphlet with some pie in the sky nonsense written in it and he’s sold.

Sad.

California is a huge State. Why isn't this a municipality issue rather than a state wide law?

I get specific towns/cities enacting regulations, but state wide?

Idiotic.

I use the battery powered stuff as much as possible but there is a time to start engines;)

cgarr 10-11-2021 05:07 AM

just set the stuff on fire

KFC911 10-11-2021 05:49 AM

My backpack blowers actually blow... this blower kinda sucks :D. A pro would need to charge at least 8-10 of these batteries each evening.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1633960137.jpg

or a broom no power just push it

I got a ryobi 40v weedwacker
newer brushless model that swaps heads to a chain polesaw or blower or tiller ect
so one tool/motor battery can power different things
batterys also work on their lawnmower

even on low power it does the job
I have not tryed the high setting yet

Don't know if you are serious. What takes a backback blower just a few minutes to clear would probably consume an hour with a broom for many "jobs".

I don't understand why the US won't amend the Guadalupe Hidalgo Treaty and give California and it's citizens back to Mexico. The state sets horrible precedents legally, and has become a serious problem. Just dump it.

They still manage to grow a lot of food for the rest of us.

URY914 10-11-2021 08:50 AM

Is the State saying anybody can rat out the users or sue them and get a $10k bonus?

KFC911 10-11-2021 09:05 AM

^^^^ FREE lawn tools for CA Pelicans... limit of one please :D
