Well, one good thing about this is I will no longer have to use my California Regulated Gas Can which doesn't let out any vapors but spills about a cup of gas every time I use it.

As far as electric chain saws.....my Dewalt electric chain saw is terrific and works better than any gas chain saw I've ever had - and it starts every time. I'm not sure how the lumber industry will work out but for home use, Dewalt is fine.
By the way, our power went out today at work. I'm not sure if it is related to PG&G rolling blackouts that were announced for today or if it's due to the wind - we have both today. |

I used to be a master mechanic and almost CARB-certified.
Something like 1/4 of California air pollution is blown in across the vast sea. (that is probably understated) Meanwhile the US EPA, Congress, World environmental institutions, etc etc do nothing. Do you really know how your iPhone is made...from sourcing materials...to point of sale? The Carbon Credit system is about the supplementing wealthy land owners through legislation which forces vapor-ware paperwork payments. AKA a mob. It moves numbers on paper. It is all a facade. |
Sorry Seahawk, but there's not a pro around here that will agree with you and none of the battery powered tools are practical for them. If cutting "a" small lawn, or small trees, limbs, etc. then they absolutely have their niche, but don't even try to suggest they can compete with 2-cycle stuff and be cost effective. You have yours .... I have mine. That 58V blower I posted earlier was "the best" .... and it sucks imo.... it simply fails miserably for blowing leaves. I'll never use a battery powered chainsaw or line trimmer either... they just aren't practical for me and never will because I have "non-toys" instead.
If something isn't broke .... then CA will probably break it... or try ;). To each their own... |

I'll grant that it might not be "the best", but it's a hand held not a backpack. All of the hand helds (even 2-cycles) are pitiful compared to my Stihl and Echo backpack blowers that I've had forever.

I use it in "Turbo mode" (just as stupid as a Taycan Turbo name) and it has never come close to running out of power. I have about 1/4 of a mile of edging for my sidewalks. The grass get on the sidewalks, but it is easy to blow it off into the yard. Clean sidewalks and all is cool. I don't blow the clipping into the street. It will never last the 20 years the old blower lasted, but that is expected in a throw away world. I can't image any electric mower could handle my lawn and the Honda mower is just a few years old and should outlast me. My string trimmer may get replaced with a battery operated unit. My old, made in US steel bladed edger is a walk behind unit I bought in 1981. It starts on the first pull, and has grease zerks to keep the wheels lubes. It will likely outlast me as well. |
