Two million kilometres in a Toyota Corolla.
Amazing.
This Corolla has just done two million kilometres (that's about 1.24 million miles) and still the original engine and gearbox. A service every two weeks. So those who say you don't need to change the oil often because it's still doing it's job need to look at what this guy has achieved. https://www.nzherald.co.nz/whanganui-chronicle/news/toyota-corolla-serviced-in-whanganui-surpasses-two-million-kilometres/65OLV5QLKCI5T3Y3UQEJWWNX74/ |

2 things
1 impressive to rack up that many miles on what is basically a (relatively) small island. 2 I'm pretty sure a corolla kills 5% of your soul for every 50km so that guy has been soulless for the past million km.

Oh I think he lost his soul a long time ago. He delivers newspapers ![]() The secret to his success is each time the car is started it goes non stop for 350 kilometres (220 miles). And the fresh oil. |

I have no problem with anyone who develops a bond with any kind of a machine, and I'll bet the Corolla fit him perfectly the first time he sat in it.
(I do have issues with the socks and sandals and his shirttails tucked into his khaki shorts.)

Yep. My guess is that it probably also never sees over 4k rpm, maybe less than that.

I see something like this and all I can think about is the amount of TIME it took. That's like being in jail sitting in that car that long.

I bet his azz has a nicely conformed dent in the driver's seat.
And, Toyota should buy him a new one and make him a spokesmodel. Sort of like Jared and Subway, with out the pedophilia. |

They should do that and take his car apart to see how it actually wore.
Had co-worker that never changed the oil in his Datsun pickup truck. When he went to get a new one, Datsun actually bought his old one to do forensics on it. Had well over 200k miles on it.

Ha! One of my friends delivers papers and gets a new Toyota truck every 5 years or so. He spends a ton on oil changes and tires. His 88 Carrera and 70 911t rarely get driven. I think the Toyota sucked the soul out if him.

This tells me something that I've heard before. There is very little wear when the engine and trans have good/clean lubrication and is not going on short trips. Of course assumes the engine is a good design to begin with. I wonder what sort of oil he was/is using.
I've talked to some cab drivers that got 500k on the various cars they were using back in the day - now I've used only Uber.

Good afternoon Bill, Thank you for your email, 2 million kilometres is an incredible distance isn't it !! We use FUCS Titan Truck Plus SAE15W.40 oil in Graeme's 1993 Toyota Corolla. He has had plenty of interest since this went public. Thank you once again for your interest. Kind regards Donna Caird I had the same model Corolla for some time. What a great car. A 4AFE engine if I remember correctly. My latest Corolla is better. It uses half the fuel. |

The soul killing (or not) might depend on which Corolla. I saw a little old white haired lady driving one of these yesterday and almost followed her to ask about the car. It looked like it was in great shape. I decided being a stalker maybe wasn't a good move.

Wagon huh? Did those possibly have manual transmissions?
Could be a pretty cool car really.

My one that looked the same had a manual. There are autos in this model, but most were manual. Very reliable car.

I have a 94 Corolla wagon just like that one. It belonged to my mother before she was taken by cancer. I can’t really get rid of it - not sure why.
It is the one vehicle in our farm that ALWAYS starts, no matter how cold it is.

I wonder if after all of that rolling, the engine was still running, the transmission in gear and all he had to do was press the gas pedal? |

Corollas like that (and newer, and older) are like the official vehicle of Afghanistan. That particular model is probably the best one Toyota made. It’s the last series, from the early to mid 90s, before they realized their cars were a bit too expensive to build and started taking money out of them.
