Wellston is about an hour north of me.

So you're a poke north of GR then huh? I think it's about 2 hours from GR up to Wellston Seems like that's put you around Big Rapids?

Oh.. and don't be calling down the thunder on the cold weather. I'd rather it be warm when I go up fishing! Craig said it'll be about 3 weeks before my heads will be finished. That puts me into Coldvember.

Yep...but about halfway between GR and BR.
Fremont is the name...home of Gerber Baby Foods!

PM me if you want the address...I can make any day work.

I'll let you know when I'm heading up that way. I'll probably wait till I'm going up to pick the heads up. I was going to go up fishing this weekend by my wife and daughter are going up to see my oldest daughter so I have to be home to let the dogs out and feed them. I haven't been up to Wellston in about 4 or 5 years so I'm kinda looking forward to it. I might bring a tent and stop by Scottville and have a look at the Pere Marquette. I spent a few drunken evenings on the bank of that river when I was in my late teens early twenties. We used to sleep in our cars in a parking lot by the river back when snaggin salmon was legal. I might hit the campground on the other side of the river if it's still around.

One day later....unreal weather again.
Biking, mowing lawn, raking leafs...all in shorts and t-shirt.
Near the end of Oct....hard to believe in MI

Living in MI...we normally have cloudy skies..or rainy with wind at 50 degrees at this time of year.
It's the payment for the great summers we have. :)

Our average high, at this point, is 59degrees
Today we were in the mid 70's.

Being that's where the Wolverines are... ya had it comin! :D

I had a guy from Michigan all worked up while I was up salmon fishing. I asked him, did you know all the trees in Toledo Ohio lean North? He says no. I say ,ya know why? He says no. I said, because Michigan sucks ;)

Hindsight being what it is, it probably wasn't a good idea to say that to the guy I'm depending on for shelter at the time. :D

^^^ Lol...he most likely had no idea what you meant.
It's well known on that side of the state (AA)....but on my side..most wouldn't understand.

Most here are MSU fans...I feel sorry for them!

He was from Flint... believe me... he understood. LOL

The look he gave me was priceless! I said this while we were watching the Michigan/Nebraska game. Probably didn't make things any better when I said "why not turn on a good game where a good team is playing" and suggested Ohio State.

Ya know.. I might not be a nice person.

Better be careful...those Flint guys mean business!
If you've ever been to Flint...you would agree. :)

I had to drop his grandson off in Flint. Looked like a wonderful place! < should have been green.

cabmandone 10-19-2021 02:08 PM

I kept telling his grandson "just let me know before we get to an area when I should have one in the chamber"

It was once a very prosperous city. Totally reliant on the car production industry.

And then it stopped.

You should see the 40 acre field full of GM trucks! They're all waiting for a chip to make them go. Might be the most interesting thing I saw.

It's probably a lot like Lima Ohio only bigger. Lima was a booming city around here. Had good manufacturing jobs like Whirlpool, Textron, and others... and then it went away. Sad to watch really.
