KVM Switch recommendations?

I'm feeling quite lost trying to understand what is on the market, mostly run into spam/scam.

What I've got is a space issue where the only place I have to put another monitor/keyboard/mouse I need to use is ergonomically awkward.
I'd like to be able to connect it to the good ergonomic space and use a switch to operate either PC.

Two 1440P 144hz monitors using Display Port.
Razor Huntsman Keyboard
Razor NAGA Mouse with 12 side button inputs.

Other bits:
60hz display bothers me, I need the extra frame rate.
I'd love to keep the RGB lighting on the keyboard.
If the mouse doesn't work with the KVM switch I wouldn't find it difficult to keep two mice on the space and move them on or off the primary pad as needed.

Thanks.

The specifics of the peripherals really don't matter.

You are just switching USB paths like a track in a rail yard.

Unless all PC's have display port out it'll be the monitors you need to look at.

Display Port and HDMI are not the same thing.

If the monitor also has HDMI input options no issues.

If it's Display Port only input you need to make sure it's Dual Mode DP. The port on back should be labeled DP++ or Display Port ++

If a monitor has HDMI as well or is DP++ it has the required circuits to take HDMI in over DP.

If not you need an active adaptor, passive won't work.

Why not use remote desktop from one to the other instead of switching back and forth? I haven't used KVMs in a long time because that works so well now.

Are they both gaming rigs or something?

I do both remote desktop and switches but still prefer switches.

StomachMonkey,
Monitors have places to plug in dual HDMI's and a single display port.
I've currently got display port(PC) to display port(Monitor) in use.
From what I understand display port was capable of higher bandwidth than HDMI when I was picking what cables to get for the monitors.
But it's been a while.

The last time I tried remote the latency and quality was not good enough.
It's a bit of a pain to try to fill in large fields of data targets in tandem with latency problems.

Thanks!
I am looking into the exact same issue, thought I needed a kvm switch to share 2 monitors between 2 systems. I will look into remote desktop as well.
Present older video card has 1xdp and 1xhdmi in use. If remote desktop doesn't work smoothly enough any thoughts on kvm switches would still be helpful
Thanks

FWIW, if remoting between two devices you want them both on wired connections.

WIFI is for convenience not performance.

Wired on an internal network there shouldn't be too much latency.

That said, the USB devices shouldn't be an issue and is the switch has DP on it there shouldn't be too much issue. The only place I have multiple devices on one monitor is the home theater and I use the Home Theater Receiver for that which works well but each device has it's own input. Haven't used a KVM at work in 6 or 8 years.

I was wired last time I tried.
However the network cables and switches were of unknown age and might have been suspect.
Definately had compression artifacts.

Gave it a shot yesterday on my current network.
Does meh, but not great.
For whatever reason window's sound FX comes through in a bad way.
Image quality was ok, but FPS was jerky.

Remote will help me in the short term for sure.
I'm hoping a switch would run at close to natural.

There are so many good ones out there, I have used cheap to expensive ones, I find the cheaper ones work fine. Startech iogear etc.

Why wouldn't it?

It's just a pass through.

If Radio Shack still existed you could probably DIY one in an afternoon.

Make sure in the remote app you specify LAN, just in case it detected something wonky and slowed things down a little to save bandwidth.

I do understand the audio thing, it's always a slightly odd delay.

Don't know if it'd work for your use case, but there is also a way to put in a registry key and just push the single app(s) you want in windows to your main desktop and not juggle two desktops if that might be helpful.
