And just like that , I hate driving pickups .
15 years of dd'ing 3/4 ton pickups. I can't believe I put up with it . Once I pulled back from the rentals, I found I was not using my pick up very much . I sold my worn out 2500HD, and picked up a newer half ton, and while it is a nice truck, it is about the most un rewarding thing I have ever piloted . I almost never drive it . Unless I am actually hauling something, or have to tow a car , it just sits .
I love being able to slice through traffic again, and 25 mpg is nothing to sneeze at either. Oddly enough , it was not a Porsche that brought me back, but a Honda Accord winter beater 2 seasons ago . Did you know an accord will swallow up 10 foot pieces of rebar ? |

I never liked pickups. I bought one to use when building my house and kept it for a long time. I actually never used it for that purpose except for a couple of times and only hauled or towed something heavy twice. It was a great truck that I let it go last year when I bought my Ford passenger van (T-350 w/ Ecoboost). I really love the van just like the Ford passenger van I bought new in '89 prior to my pickup. I removed the seats except for those behind the driver & passenger front seats. That way I can get up to 10 ft. long pieces of lumber in it along with 4x8 plywood sheets if I want. In fact I brought home some 8 ft. lumber from H.D. today. The thing gets 19/20 mpg. for my back & forth driving & 21/22 on trips.

Agree, My 2500hd will be sold soon, needed it for my build but prefer driving a car. My old e60 BMW with fold down rear seat and roof racks will be my replacement truck.

I have several pick ups for work, towing and the like have for years
I cannot understand why anyone drives one as a daily. cars are so much more pleasant |
I would enjoy driving a regular car regularly but it's TX and if'n ya wanna see farther down the road than the tailgate in front of you you gotta go big or go home.

Funny….I just traded my BMW in on a new Tacoma OR 4wd. So far, I really like it. As a mid size, I’m getting about 21 mpg. I like sitting higher and find it a very comfortable and practical vehicle. And now I can actually pull my own boat without bugging my neighbors. What a concept.

I had a buddy that had a V6 accord with a manual trans. It was impressively capable.
I've driven a few trucks here and there over the years. I've never enjoyed any of them. |

My Landcruiser is pretty unoffensive to drive. 2001 model year. I do truck stuff with it.

Like driving my f150 Platinum way more than my Fender edition Passat SEL . I have downgraded from the F250s and 350s as I don't need a truck that big anymore. Having grown up with 70s land barges I love my truck. i have Porsches for the track only, don't see the need for a sports car on the road.

I think it is very reasonable to express disgust and hatred towards anything right now, Fred. Family is first, the truck is of no concern. Trying times, especially now for you and your family. She will pull through, she's a truck.

I picked up a 10 year old Nissan Frontier in the spring...crank windows, 5-speed, manual locks, 15 inch rims, tiny jump seats but some kick-butt suicide half doors...and I love it. Every second of it. It's quickly becoming one of the best vehicles I've owned.
I can't stand oversized lifted 20 foot long behemoth trucks, but this thing feels and drives like a car that doesn't care about potholes and scratches, and the fully opening cab is so useful. The manual helps it get up and go surprisingly well, and it will happily run at 80-90 mph on my high speed morning commute. |
