Yep.
If I remember correctly, I was about 10-11. I came running in from outside, it was dinner time. Ran up to the kitchen sink to wash up for dinner, kinda hit my knee hard. The next thing I knew, I went cold, light headed, started to fall. I remember looking at the back of my stepfathers head. And past him I could see myself. He was kneeling beside me, trying to get my mouth open, and kept saying "He is choking" Then I remember opening my eyes, looking at the family and asked "What happened?" As I was moved to the couch, I felt a large bump on my head and yelled for mom again. I don't think of it much, still freaks me out. |
They say if you have 5 death experiences of others close to you, you end up as damaged goods.
|
Perhaps this experience will allow your wife to be at peace with the passing of your daughter, and she can return to a more "normal" sense of life. Casey is safe and well-cared for. She'll see Casey once again, but just not now.

A cool scene from Gladiator about seeing your family again. Not available for embedding.

God bless you brother you've had enough struggle for 2 lifetimes I'm wishing you smooth sailing from here on. You're a stronger man than I |

How's your wife doing, Fred?

All blessings Fred. How to suffer and survive is something you could lecture others on.
I may have told this story before but here goes. December 2000 I'm driving to work after a storm. The road I travel is well known to me and a bit twisty but I didn't see the black ice. I lost control and crossed over into the oncoming lane where a SUV destroyed my Saturn POS. I was spinning (according to the police) , got hit twice and ended up inthe back seat due to a failure of the seat belt. I remember hearing a voice say to me "stay still we need to cut the roof off. I'm going to stay with you". I couldn't move but was able to look into the eyes of a woman that had crept into the wreckage and did something to cover my head. All I remember is her eyes. Fast forward to hospital and the rescue squad came to visit me. I thanked them and asked who it was that crawled into the wreck to stay with me. They looked at one another and then to me and said "no one, we thought that you were probably killed inthe crash" I told them what I experienced and they repeated "nope it wasn't us" On their way out one of them turned back to me and said " maybe it was an angel". |

I put my brakes on to stop hitting her and then I feel the back wheel coming up off the ground. Fortunately I slowed enough without going over the handle bars. Too close to coming off my bike and I cycle a lot slower now going downhill. |
I’ve experienced out of body experience when I was in my twenties and going through depression.
It taught me for life that there is something beyond our physical shell, gave me the confidence of an afterlife, and less fear of death. I believe that what happened to your wife was meant to teach her the same thing, and help her move forward after the loss of your daughter, because she now knows that her soul is still there and able to connect. Nothing happens by accident, and we sometimes need to be shown what is beyond life, so that we can continue in this life. |
Enough about me Fred. How is your wife doing?
|
She stroked out of me guys, and just like that, I am a caregiver .
It appears as if she has had multiple strokes over the last few weeks. I have her home, and am adjusting to my new life, but Im not sure where it goes from here . I can take care of her, but I cant take care of her, and run the biz, and keep the home running, get the kids off to school, homework etc . Its full time, meds in the morning, blood sugar checks, insulin 4x a day , incontinence , she walks, but needs help , and also needs help to dress, and bathe. This morning, when trying to get her second insulin shot in , she asked why am I trying to kill her. She was joking, but had a serious look on her face. Good thing she trusts me . They are going to send out at home Rehab, and a visiting nurse, starting this, week, and my mom, and mother in law can fill in the hours that I am at work . They are hopeful, that she is young enough to make a mostly normal recovery , but you know the drill, nothing is for sure . FML Don't feel sorry for me , Ill take it like a man, and do the best that I can with my boys, and to take good care of my lady . I think the worst part for me, is the family , now wants to step in , and micromanage every step of her care. I am doing exactly what the doctors have advised me to do to the T, but my mother in law, and sister in law, are constantly bugging me, questioning everything, and telling me to do different . texting me ,wanting answers and explanations . I am razor thin with patience . I almost let the kraken out on my sister in law last week, but put it back in the jar Today , they all get the speech. Im taking medical advice from her doctors only , not my family members . My wife and I took care of her father after his strokes, this all brings back some ****ty memories , although, back then, her and I did it as a team. Silver lining, her and I have always had a good back and forth , she is always busting my stones, and making jokes about my family , and she has not lost her sense of humor. We have this running joke about her getting back together with her high school boyfriend BJ, . I asked her what she was thinking about this morning, and she smiled at me and said "BJ" She seems pretty sharp this morning, hopefully , over the next couple of weeks, she shows some improvements Thanks for asking , you guys are the greatest at times, helps to have some brothers to talk to I have some PMS to reply to here also, sorry for not getting back sooner, been a pretty busy guy |
I am in awe of you.
|
Damn! But a tip of my hat for giving the speech to relatives. I'm sure they all mean well, but somebody had to take charge...and you did! Bravo!
The medical folks are hopeful...that's good news. |

Never mind the fact the fam has zero education, "I watched a documentary on blah, blah," and boom, they know better. Just incredibly brazen BS actions at the worst time. Best preemptive action is to create a Living Will and discuss with family to GTFO and let the Living Will be the directive. I have one. My daughter with BSN, MSN will be the one monitoring my care if it ever comes to that. And of couse, good on you Fred. Maintain, proceed as you are, lean on us here. Much love and prayers to you. SmileWavy |
I am so sorry Fred. If I lived closer I would be there to help you in a heartbeat. You have gone through so much and hopefully your wife will recover. Thinking about you and your family.
Cheers, Guy |
Good luck Fred.
Family are most important. |
So sorry for this challenging turn of events, Fred. Wishing you, your wife, and your kids strength over the next year.
|
Reach out Fred, we'll try to help if we can.

5 PEs in my left lung the day after spinal surgery. Crushing pain left chest, difficult to breathe. My wife walks into my room as the team is entering with the crash cart. I blacked out but could hear what was going on faintly. I asked JC that if he really need to take me away I was OK with it but asked if it be his will to let me live to take care of my family. A lot of Heparin and I awoke in shock.
I saw His face and felt His presence. I'm thankful every day. |
