Was Stroker McGurk right

Stroker was a character who was in Tom Medley cartoons published in HOT ROD back in the day. I forgive those here who don't remember him. He often said "There is no replacement for displacement" or "There is no substitute for cubic inches." Watching this video brought old Stroker to mind...

I remember Stroker McGurk and "There is no replacement for displacement." That was always what I believed until I bought my 2020, T-350 passenger van. The 213 c.i., Ecoboost V6 puts out 310 h.p. & 400 lb. ft. of torque and gets around 19/21 mpg. Of course I drive it sanely. I still wonder if it will get as many miles of use (last as long) as a bigger engine.

My daily is a V8 (W140 S420).

- I actually feel good about filling it with gas because I feel like I'm getting my money's worth.
That's no joke BTW and I'm going to keep it as long as it's practical to do so.

It costs about $90 to fill from around 1/4 of a tank and I get close to 600 kilometres (373 miles) between fills.
That's a little bit more than 3 weeks of driving between fills.
