For some reason people embrace Halloween far more than they do for Christmas.
I'll take Thanksgiving, and Independence day myself. |

I have a buddy that is a huge Halloween fanatic. He sets up elaborate displays, dresses up like a wizard and puts on a show.
He kept after me to join in on the fun. I finally relented and dressed up like a mummy. Being 6'4" and skinny I was perfect. I took an old white sheet and buried it in mud for a couple of days to give it some character. I then tore it into 3" to 4" wide ragged strips to use as wrap. I attached the wrap to an old set of warm up using a non flammable boat carpet adhesive. It was impressive. I would sit in a chair next to the driveway. Kids would slowly approach me and I would jump up and slowly chase after them, dragging a leg. Screams and squeals galore! I actually had parents come up to me and beg me to scare they crap out of their kids. I must admit that it was a ton of fun. |

My neighborhood goes crazy for Halloween. There is a Post office at the entrance to my subdivision, it will fill up with cars, people come from all around to walk this neighborhood.
I buy a case of beer in cans, I keep a cooler next to the candy where we are sitting. I hand them out to the parents when they come through. Since I do not drink the beer of common folk I asked the guy that owns the corner sports bar what does the sell the most of, Yuengling and Bud Light, I grab a 12-18 pack of each. Huge hit with the parents. LOL!! Years past we did things, last year there was a some activity but nothing like 2019. I 2019 we did a Adams Family theme. I built a "Thing" display, when you came to get candy Thing handed it out. The kids and parents loved it, it was good fun. ![]() ![]() This year is a card table, a cooler and some beach chairs at the end of the driveway. I am too busy to do anything this year.

Next night after Halloween is Dios Los Muertos (Night of the dead)
The party starts @ midnight. Or local cemetery is hosting the event, midnight to sunrise.
