I'll stick with my original, thank you...

Wow! I do love a Hi Power!

Sounds like I need to start saving up!

Maybe a bunch of folks with old models will want to upgrade to the new hotness (like with cell phones) and they'll sell off their old stuff cheap.

Why not?

https://armedamericannews.org/omg-springfield-armory-is-bringing-back-the-browning-hi-power/

I have gone to a total 9mm fleet, including an early 80's and a 40's Belgium Browning.

Just works better for me now logistically and comfort-wise.

My son has all the .45's except my Dad's from Korea.

purdy!

I figure 9 and 45 are pretty safe bets to have around for several reasons.

The FN Browning HP's have just made another jump in price...from around 1200 to around 2000.

I saw ww2 Saginaw M1 Carbines going for around 3K last weekend at auction.

Finnish Moisin Nagant M39's are pushin 950..

Everything is pushin hard...

The only thing that ain't zoomin are used current production spoons..then you are paying basically Distributor pricing..which saves a dime or 2.

I've never understood the fuss over the FN Browning HP.

- I shot it A LOT many years ago and it was OK but I was never impressed. There are much better options.

Best friend has one of those Finnish Moison Nagants, that is about triple what he paid for it. It is a LOT nicer than the Russian ones, even the pre war ones. The wartime manufacture ones are rough..

.45 beats me up too much, as do the Moison. I love me some Browning designs, now I can justify picking one up a little easier

I have a hankering for a 9 mm carbine, and a nice bolt action I can feed 5.56/.223

Ruger makes a sweet 9 mm carbine that will take Glock magazines. That works with your ammo logistics Paul, and Christmas is right around the corner

Handgun choices are like picking a daily driver: One man's Prius is another man's SUV.

I was looking for a personal weapon I could carry in my SV-2 Survival Vest. In those days you could bring your own side arm to the Weapons Chief on the ship, small boys in my case, and they would handle all the logistics involved.

The Weps Chief on the frigate I was on recommenced the FN Browning so I bought one used in 1985 for $250.00 large and got good with it.

That is the one I still have. Are there better options now? Absolutely (and depending), but, as they said in FMJ, paraphrasing: "This is my pistol. There are many others to choose from, but this one is mine."
