2023 Z06..... how are we not talking about this!!

I can't wait to see the aftermarket headers that will come to market!!! |
i was astonished to hear 670hp out of a naturally aspirated 5.2v8. I figured GM would aim high but that is above and beyond what I thought possible in what is still a relatively pedestrian car.
Pretty impressive for roughly the price of a cayman gts. |
The Z06 version makes the C8 into a serious screamer with its 5.5L flat plane crank. The base model is enough for me with its 0-60 time of 2.8 seconds vs 2.6 seconds in the Z06. Then later, the ZR1 has a turbocharged version of the Z06 engine, making around 800 hp. Things are going to get serious...
https://www.caranddriver.com/news/a38060129/2023-chevy-c8-corvette-z06-c8-stingray-compared/ I had a 2008 Z06 and 505 hp (out of a normally aspirated small block 427, which was cool) wasn't the problem. Traction was. https://photos.smugmug.com/photos/i-.../i-dcvNrfT.jpg |
From the sounds of it by some of the car youtubers I follow, it appears to check off a lot of boxes for them. Obviously all of this is just from what they saw/heard on the video but seems exciting.
|
Sounds damn good.
|
It sure seems like a potent weapon. I still don’t love the looks of the c8 from some angles, but I can’t imagine there will be much that can compete with it for the money.
|
hope it can hang with a GT3RS.
with the new nannies your grandmother will be able to maintain traction. |
Is this the mid engine Corvette they should have been making for a long time?
|
I may part with my lil SC in a few years, provided my car goes up and used C8's go down. ;) I may have to wait more like 10 years for them to get very reasonable. lol
The Z06 is just amazing! |
Cool.
As an American it makes me happy to see a fast car from Corvette. 0-60 in 2.6 is the only number I noticed they mentioned. They went to the Nürburgring with a guy in a race suit, yet they never mentioned any sort of time for a lap. A Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 1LE did a 7:16 back in 2018, so they have to be in the 6 minutes range. |
The performance cars coming from the U.S. in the last 10 years have been pretty epic, even more so when you factor in the cost for that performance.
|
I like the technology aspects of super and near super cars, but I think on the road this will be somewhat less fun to drive than an ND2 miata or base model cayman even. Would be too much car for me to be comfortable in HPDE as well.
Have no interest in cars and coffee or instagram type activites, so not sure what I would do with one. |
Do want!
|
that's a heck of a slick promotion as well.
|
Here’s a good engine article describing why this engine should be more reliable than Ford’s recent flat plane V8.

I’m with you Aschen. It’s neat but I get nothing from bragging and it would be so hard to stay out of trouble
|
Helluva good video about what appears to be a helluvan automobile. Out of the nearly 90 cars I've owned, only one was a Corvette, a C5 Z06. Looked cool, sounded cool, offered lots of performance per dollar, and I really didn't like it. Haven't even considered another Corvette since that experience ... until now.
This thing, particularly in Z07 form, looks good and sounds fantastic. _ |
Do it right and get the Z07 option.

Zora Arkus Duntov would most likely approve.
