Windows 11?
I was checking my browser update cache. I see a prompt for a W11 upgrade. I'm seeing "safe" and free and other verbs that remind me of the Covid vax assurances.
![]() Anyone take the plunge yet? Is it free at the beginning and a charge later if you wait?

Depending on which new processor you have there have been some issues and patches sent out.
https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2021/10/windows-11-the-ars-technica-review/ The good A nice-looking and functional redesign that takes us past the Windows 8/10 design aesthetic. Window management improvements are great across the board. Performs about as well (and in some specific circumstances, better than) Windows 10 on the same hardware. Raises awareness of security features like Secure Boot and TPM, which most people should be taking advantage of if they can. Tons of beneficial tweaks to apps, touchscreen and pen support, and other fit-and-finish improvements. Free upgrade from Windows 10. The bad Windows 11 is more consistent and unified than Windows 8 or Windows 10, but you'll still find traces of older Windows versions all over the place. Taskbar regressions will annoy those who relied on the flexibility and customization options of older versions. Widgets still feel mostly pointless in their latest iteration. Lots of built-in apps haven't been updated yet. General brand-new-major-OS-update bugginess. The ugly The biggest jump in Windows' system requirements in 15 years leaves plenty of perfectly functional and not-particularly-old PCs with no fully supported upgrade path.

From what I saw in the propaganda Microsoft has sent is that you will have several days at first to revert back to Win 10 if needed.
It is free now as the Win 10 upgrade was from Win 7 or 8. I am betting that they will really want me to log into my Windows Account to even use my PC, which I will resist. I just want my computer to beet and start using it with no log in needed. No one else uses my computer, just me. I have no need for multiple logins. I do have one old computer that is pretty slow and I only use it for a few old programs that are really handy. It will remain on Win 10 until I give up on it. Win 11 is coming and like Win 10, we might as well get used to the fact it like the music from Jaws, it is coming, like it or not.

From what I understand it is much more limited. Menu options have been removed.
like those pretty Apple colored buttons which pigeons peck It is optimized for Intel surveillance processors. Cough. AMD users will have to grab a snickers and wait. Oh and your hardware may actually be "approved" with a few clicks in bios. They were lying to you all along.

The biggest ugly and turn-off is that you will be required to be online at all times. No more local accounts. Plus the level of spyware built into the OS is obscene.
F*** windows 11, I'm going back to Linux. There are plenty of user-friendly distros that don't require a high level of expertise to use. Especially if most of what you do is browse online. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=_Ua-d9OeUOg

When my last Lenovo turned into a rock.....I purchased a Lenovo Yoga, I had a choice of W10 or W10. Now that I am used to it, they want me change. They move buttons, change names, wipe out all your settings and passwords.....fuchdem.

I will create a domain to join before I resort to windows accounts. Especially since they won't let you create a windows account if you are using a custom domain. They will allow gmail, outlook.com and yahoo though.
