Eternals

I think it goes without saying that any movie that opens with Pink Floyd's Time is going to be a good, and probably a trip. Eternals lived up to both. Good movie, yes, great, no. As part of phase 4 (I think) of the MCU, it doesn't feel like Marvel movies in the past, mostly because it was directed by Chloe Zhao.

It could have been a great movie but it was philosophically expansive and tried to do too much in one film. Great visuals, sometimes a thinking movie, others fighting, if nothing else it was enjoyable and sets the table for the future.

and Gemma Chan and Salma Hayek, there's them too, so...

It's hard to go wrong with Gemma Chan or Angelina Jolie or Salina Hayek

It looks good. I'll watch it when it comes to DVD.

If they tell a good story and rely largely on good acting, I'll probably see it.

If, on the other hand, I hear or read that it relies heavily on CGI, then it's probably not for me.

I enjoy the Marvel movies, for the most part. It's a couple hours of mindless entertainment; a time to disconnect from reality. We'll watch it.

I don't have a DVD or Bluray player connected to my TV. I buy DVDs or BD (whichever is cheaper usually, and then rip them and stream them to my TV. My TV is a 46" Samsung from 2007 or 2008.

I'll eventually upgrade the TV, but I'll probably only go to something ~60" ±5".

this is less mindless than all other marvel movies. it even provokes semi-thoughtfulness.

one reason I liked it is it indicts the human race.

I availed of the Disney Plus 3-years for the price of 2 when they first announced it. I'll wait for this there (and not pay for premium access). I did enjoy Black Widow.

I just saw it tonight. My brother rented the theater for his bday so only 12 of us occupied the room which was really nice. I would not have paid to see Eternals on the big screen. It was good but really confusing because there are too many characters and I knew nothing about any of them unlike the Avengers characters. IMO, worth a Redbox rental only.

Did not enjoy.

More plot holes than a block of swiss cheese.

#1.

Celestials create Deviants to cleanse the earth of all life so that humans can be introduced and evolved.

Eternals are introduced to clean up the Deviants.

Why?

Time is irrelevant, why not let Deviants clean up and then when there is nothing left to eat simply let them starve.

No need for Eternals at all.

It goes down hill from there.

Spoilers: (sorta)

It was kind of amusing to see Both of the Game of Throne sons reunited as boyfriends of Gemma Chan. Also kinda fun to have Ikaris (Icarus) ...fly into the sun (hey he made it all the way this time) !

Interesting, but not surprising. Not everyone likes every movie.

I'm still interested. I got an email today that it's available on disk. I assume the price is not bargain basement assuming it's newly released. looked it up, $25 on Amazon.

I generally prefer the "honest trailer" over all others

I hadn't previously seen "honest trailers." That's pretty funny, but also drug on a bit.
