Facebook experts, help please.

I just opened a facebook account a few months ago. Only because it seems to be the place to go to buy and sell. Well, since the market is so crazy I decided to see if I can get good $$$$$ for my Cayman. This morning I took some pics and posted an ad on marketplace. About an hour later I get a massage from someone and reply. I check back an hour after that and I can not find my ad. After clicking around, I find that my user account has been restricted due to suspicious activity. Also it said something about needing a facebook page in order to sell. Is having a facebook page different than an account . My question mark key is not working .If so I will figure that out. Thanks for any info.
Damn I wish Craigs list was still a valid place to sell.

Some Facebook groups have a rule that if you are new to Facebook, that you can't post until you have been a member something like 90 days .

You need to go into ads manager to see the actual status of the ad you created.

If you are logged in the links in these articles will take you exactly where you need to go.

Creating an ad, this will take you to ads manager to see that status metrics:
https://www.facebook.com/business/help/180704006007059?id=150605362430228

What to do if ad rejected:
https://www.facebook.com/business/help/1210227555661027

Once you know the exact reason for rejection then you can appeal or make the required updates.

The ads manager link may help. I went to account quality earlier and found that I was restricted. I just looked at marketplace vehicles and could not find the ad but when I searched Porsche, it comes up but the account quality page still says I am restricted. I did just get another response. I am sooo confused.

What is the exact error message and does it give you a button to appeal?

Also there is a support chat you can use for ads: https://www.facebook.com/business/help/support

You did not list it in an established Market Place.

You created an ad for it which is not what you wanted to do.

It says my account is restricted due to unusual activity. I requested a review. It asked me to upload my ID so I uploaded my drivers license. Review is pending.

That's about all you can do at this point!

Did you pay at all? I have run ads where I want a lot of exposure and have paid $5 or $10 to get the ad out to a wider audience.

On the back end that is still an ad which is why you can see it in ads manager.

Depending on what other marketplaces you are member of you can chose to include those in your listing.

For example, I was selling some video game memorabilia and joined a couple videogame collector marketplaces to insure that my listing was shown there in addition to the FB Marketplace.

To tell the truth, I have not joined any groups, never made a post. Only thing I have done is answered marketplace ads to buy stuff. I just looked again and my ad is gone now. I may stick with Craigs list or get someone else to post my ad. Hate to do that since selling is why I opened the Fbook account in the first place.

Super strange, it should be very straightforward and the error messaging is pretty easy to resolve.

Maybe it was because I logged in and went to the ad at 3 different times on 3 different computers ? Got my question mark working.

If you have little to no profile info filled out, little to no feed activity, essentially no presence other than posting a for sale ad the backend bots probably think you are a scammer

sucks but it is what it is

have you tried looking for local buy sell / garage sale / classifieds groups to join?

It may not matter for now. I put it on Craigs list and a guy is driving 3 hours to look at it tomorrow. I still need to get this fixed, for future use. I will report back on it.

FB likes to think that you need to be an active user in order to post buy/sell/trade ads. They will not let you do it with a blank profile. You need to have friends, be a member of groups and have consistent posts (and pictures) on your feed or your account will be banned. Apparently this is to prevent fraud and scams. It does neither.

To get around it, have a friend or relative that does FB to post the ad for you. It's the only way it works.

I considered this. I have buddies that sell all the time. If I can not get this fixed I will delete the account. I do not care to contact people from my past or share my life with the world. I am not that friendly.
