Do it now.
If you are thinking about selling a car, do it now. I was kicking around the idea of selling my 08 Cayman S so Monday I ran it through the touchless car wash and took some pics. Put it on the internet and it sold the first day. For 90% of what I paid for it in 2015. I had no clue it would sell so fast and now I know I sold it too cheap. If you are thinking of selling, just do it and price it high.

It’s crazy right now. I sold my 2004 Dodge 2500 Diesel with 105k miles for close to MSRP. It almost doubled in value in the year that I had it!

Wow, congrats on the quick sale at what sounds like a pretty great price.

Used car prices are crazy here in the UK too
Numerous shortages of car components eg electronic chips for new cars along with COVID work protocols reducing shift productivity

90% of purchase price? To be honest, I'de expect to get more then 100% on the 2015/2017 price for my 07 Cayman 2.7
2.x liter 987 and 981 is not depreciating here, since the 718 with fart four came out, the 6 bangers have been going strong , especially here in Europe, especially the based models because here we are taxed on displacement. The only 6 bangers, non turbo you can get would be 4.0 GTS/GT4 is taxed at somethign like 10K euros to register and 2.5 grand a year for road taxes So any sub 3 liter 6 banger is very much hot property, they are the only affordable and good sounding Porsches anybody can buy

I thought I did good. I purchased it for $25k with 60,000 miles and sold it for $22,500 with 98,000 miles. And dont forget, half the world is scared to death of the IMS bearing issue. That said, I now know I could have got more. I was offered more after I had agreed to sell to the first caller. A deal is a deal.

I would... but my engine is in different pieces right now
![]() That's what I get for driving it like I stole it rather than driving like I sold it.

I had no clue it would sell so fast. I kept seeing cars with high asking prices but was not sure they were selling. The car market is crazy.

I feel bad for anyone forced to buy/replace a car right now because their own car was in an accident or something similar.
My daily is a VW Golf Alltrack with a manual trans. An uncommon car to begin with and they stopped making them a couple years ago. I love it and I'd hate to have to replace it.

I've been looking for a 997.2S (see affordable 997 thread) for months now and prices are friggin' out of control. There were two that were priced right, and of course, they sold very quickly before I could even go see the car...

I am thinking C6 Corvette but not at todays prices. 997s are way overpriced at this time. Pretty much true across the board. Its a shame, I have no common sense. If I did I would be looking at Corollas.

My brother sold his JF62 for quite the coin. It had issues too, 2 cylinders down, trans slipping, interior shot. It was rode hard and put up wet.
I want to cash in with the insurance company, and not replace. They don't want to pay fair market value. 2007 Acura TL Type S. 19300mi, $5K. ![]() i will be rolling in a 2006 Pruis in a week or so. ![]()

We sold the Audi RS3 for the Tesla. Got $7K less than purchase: 40K miles and had been rear ended and repaired (final Bill was $15K in damage). Considering the accident, I thought we did pretty well.

I feel like I did alright. I was having a waste gate issue on my wife's car attended to and noticed a white Golf Cabriolet in back. He had just taken it in on trade and figured he would fix a couple of spots and the seats and give it to his wife. A week later he called and asked if I might be interested. No. Was my response, but a few days later, after talking to the Missus, I called him back and asked him to get it ready to go. The car was solid underneath even though it has been in Atlantic Canada for 32 years. I guess the owners didn't have to drive it in winter. I will have the seats recovered and am attending to some rust spots at the base of the windshield, but when all is said and done, will have a summer toy for under $4K.
I guess toys aren't in as much demand. Best Les
