Selling on CL and using PayPal

Is this not only possible but also safe and secure?

Just don't use friends and family, that eliminates any recourse. But if both parties agree to it you can make the transfer when you meet to exchange the item. Done it many times.

Normally I just do cash only but I see no reason why you couldn't use PP to receive payments or something like Venmo or Zelle. But I'm still a fan of "bring cash"

Well, cash has always been my preference too, but big bills can be counterfieted. My firm asking price is $850. Anybody want to buy a REALLY nice Ampeg VT-22?

CL is for local listings where cash is king.

That's the only way to go.

I've never really sweated that much. I've sold all sorts of things for around $800 and never really worried about counterfeit bills. I had one guy give me $800 and his last Bud Light. I took the Bud Light because I didn't want to insult him.

I bought a 928 s4 carcass with an interior fire. Car was on Craigslist. PayPal 325$ picked it up a few days later. This was approx 8 or 9 years ago.

As a seller you don't want recourse.

I sold some bikes on FB, delivered, sent buyer a pic and and buyer paid via paypal. Then paypal put a hold on the funds for 2 week, unless I provided tracking. If the buyer complained during those two weeks, I would have been screwed.

From now on it's cash or venmo.

It’s not a smart move for a seller.
Cash and carry.

A few years back I sold my bass boat (owned it 27 years) for several thousand. Guy wanted it bad .... had a wad of cash that his wife had counted. They were in the used car biz ... totally legit. So I began counting Benjamins ... 10, 20 30... then came the 50s... I didn't notice when the 50s turned to 20s ... aw crap. I looked at him and asked "can she count" ?

Shook his hand and called it good and we all laughed.

She could indeed count.... better than I

The rare times I sell something on CL, cash only. I have bought things and paid with paypal and venmo, never been a problem. Going to Maine tomorrow to get some winter wheels for the Cayenne and will pay with Paypal.

Alright. I'm not going to worry about it. Cash it is.
