We drove to Eureka Springs, AR last week. On the round trip I bet we saw 30 road kill deer and many in the woods. The deer population is very high. They sure need some culling.

^^^ Same here in MI
I wish they would allow 'unlimited' deer to be taken for a couple years. That would be enough to thin them out.

I live down the street from a rail line and also a gated community. There is a huge population of deer and many nice bucks. We live in the city, not in country.

We keep talking about how the city needs to allow some bow hunts in this area to cull.

I thought it was nearly that already in MI? Way too many rats-with-antlers there.

Same here in N NM with the muleys. They destroy everything edible. One neighbor wants to wave his bow around the yard - I laughed and remarked that nobody'd even hear a 30-06 if it made for one fewer varmint. Seriously on the 4 mile trek to drop kiddo off at school this morning I saw 8 of them, two nice little bucks as well sparring in somebody's front garden.

I had a friend in Northern NY (that ain't the same as Upstate FYI) that lived just outside of our small town of 25k. He used to hunt all the time in his back yard that went into some wood line. Never had a problem. Pretty sure he used both bow and rifle.

Awww, I don't hunt, nothing against it, I just don't do it. We have deer that come up to the edge of the woods at my back yard and we feed them. We put out any old bread and veggies and they eat it up, they eat good!!!

I'm not entirely sure, but I think a hunter can take up to five deer each season.
Of course there is a fee for each one. The DNR has to eat...

In Alabama the "limit" is one of each sex, per day in possession. My brother has gotten 18 in one season as his personal record.

I don't know if deer season is on here locally or not. I know it is for mountain lions. We had a mountain lion kill in the area about two months ago and haven't seen a deer around since. I guess the lion is back on the hunt. We've had two sightings of a lion within half a mile of our place in the past week.

The deer was the reincarnated Ron “Pigpen” McKernan and he was just trying to get to the church organ.

edit- either that or Chick Corea.
