Myself .... I have no clue, can't recall any where I've approached 100, much less 1000, or several times that amount.

What is the point? Can someone 'splain it to me... in less than 10 posts?

I've posted a lot to the music thread. And the bicycle thread. I've added my name a few times to the recent E28 thread.

I can proudly state that I posted only once to the vacuum cleaner thread. (But I also had nothing to add to the chain saw thread except my usual snark, so I guess that sort of cancels that out...)

But to your point, I've never understood the multiple posts to a plain vanilla thread, especially trying to get the last word in, as if that's 'the win'.

Yep, it's the "win a thread/topic" aspect that I just don't get either.

As many as I have wanted to make...as arguments evolve and others make additional contributions/posts/points. I imagine it largely depends on one's attention span/interest. Another thought police thread? How many threads have you started to chide other folks for making posts in a manner that does not suit you?

Long threads are just comfortable conversations for some. It has nothing to do with winning. Just an ongoing dialog. The Stijn!! one comes to mind.

You can move on and continue to spin your Pavlovian experiments into other threads as I have knowingly satisfied your desire to pull my string.

Sorry fint .... this thread was actually about Nick, as was that other post I made regarding you. He called me on that post, and I deleted the reference and apologized publicly to you.

This thread was about why Nick bailed and how folks view some threads. It was pointed out in his "adios" thread .... don't even know if you are in the thread that caused it fwiw.

Fair enough. No, I have no idea why he bailed...some threads are like the notorious air conditioning thread...nothing new after the first 10 or so. I generally avoid those as boring...there is just not enough carnage for fun (lack of new facts/points to debate).

A pity to see someone leave. I had no problems with him or his moderating...but moderating sure seems to take its share of casualties. People take their arguments a bit too seriously.

With your stats, you're skating on the edge of conversation vs. problem child. Keep the average under 4.0 and I'll consider you "normal".:)

Typically, I only post a couple times in any given thread.

Conversation is great! I have been known to engage in a few myself.
There are some however who seem to want to force their POV on others. I swear some would argue about the order of Adele's albums.
Life is too short to wrestle with pigs. Unless of course you're into that sort of thing.

If you have less than 4 posts each day, perhaps you just have nothing interesting to say/share. That is a pity. I would judge folks as either a narcissist, addicted, or insecure if they are concerned with the posting habits of others (it is indeed a "Karen" trait). Prove me wrong.

I enjoyed the Miami Condo Collapse thread and posted to it several times, which reminds me, I saw a video with some new info so...off to post!!! [emoji23]

I very seldom post and my count/years as a member shows it. If I do, I will throw in my 2 cents and then move on. To me it is amazing the number of posts some have accumulated over the years. They must spend a lot of time at it. It also seems that years ago the content of the board was more varied and interesting, with some real characters involved and almost all of them long gone to other pursuits or interests. One of my all time favorites was the Mulholland series.

Fint, I don't think a narcissist would be concerned with the posts of others.
Someone who was addicted would, I suspect, have trouble leaving the keyboard alone.
Someone who was insecure would be driven to prove they were "right ".
In 21 years I really haven't had much to say. :D

Isn’t the idea of a forum to post? I feel like I’m missing something here. I have been guilty of excess arguing, that I can admit. I’m making a conscious effort to curb that. I do enjoy conversation however. All of you bring different angles to any subject here and I enjoy that. There’s literally only a couple of members here that I don’t like to read. I refuse to block people though. I check this forum once or twice a day. Similar to The NY Times or WSJ. I like the commentary on PPOT, not parf. Parf brings out the worst in some. I know it brought out the worst in me.

Someone brought up Fint. He and I disagree on pretty much everything. I probably roll my eyes the most on some of his posts. That being said, I respect the guy. He doesn’t give a crap about what anyone thinks. He says what he believes and I think that’s cool. I don’t understand what some think the purpose is for a off topic forum?

If you ever posted anything in the technical boards, you would likely have as many as I do. But, based on what I have seen, you should probably stick to your missives about dumpster diving at the local Goodwill/thrift store. You have an awful lot of posts to be complaining about others. I probably have 10K posts just responding to personal attacks from folks who whine about my personal life/job like you or read every post then complain they were boring enough to put a MF's ass to sleep. Exactly. The only thing wrong with your posting often is that they want to control the narrative. Haters will hate and "Karens" will Karen (try to run your life). The fact that anyone would look up your statistics to see how many time/how often you post is pretty illuminating as to their psyche. Your only problem is that you seem to care a bit about what they think.
