How many posts have you made on a thread?
... or a given topic ;)? At what point are you "obsessed"?
Just food for thought.... as there are some long running threads here... Myself .... I have no clue, can't recall any where I've approached 100, much less 1000, or several times that amount. What is the point? Can someone 'splain it to me... in less than 10 posts? Pics and Jokes threads are excluded .... they're in it for the $$$$ :D |
I've posted a lot to the music thread. And the bicycle thread. I've added my name a few times to the recent E28 thread.
I can proudly state that I posted only once to the vacuum cleaner thread. (But I also had nothing to add to the chain saw thread except my usual snark, so I guess that sort of cancels that out...) But to your point, I've never understood the multiple posts to a plain vanilla thread, especially trying to get the last word in, as if that's 'the win'. Yea baby. Winning. |
Oh yeah .... music threads get a pass too .... yer good :).
Yep, it's the "win a thread/topic" aspect that I just don't get either. |
As many as I have wanted to make...as arguments evolve and others make additional contributions/posts/points. I imagine it largely depends on one's attention span/interest. Another thought police thread? How many threads have you started to chide other folks for making posts in a manner that does not suit you?
|
^^^^ LOL .... did I strike a nerve fint? I suspect I've started a few threads .... probably less than ten that come from two decades of observing the "winning" of some posters....
You win ;) |
The Dog thread is also exempt......
|
LOL. You called me out by name recently and were admonished so I though I would save the suspense and get to the point...so I would not have too many posts here and give you more ammunition.
Long threads are just comfortable conversations for some. It has nothing to do with winning. Just an ongoing dialog. The Stijn!! one comes to mind. You can move on and continue to spin your Pavlovian experiments into other threads as I have knowingly satisfied your desire to pull my string. |
Sorry fint .... this thread was actually about Nick, as was that other post I made regarding you. He called me on that post, and I deleted the reference and apologized publicly to you.
This thread was about why Nick bailed and how folks view some threads. It was pointed out in his "adios" thread .... don't even know if you are in the thread that caused it fwiw. But you win again :D Hope Crabman returns.... it's just a message board, and he will be missed. |

A pity to see someone leave. I had no problems with him or his moderating...but moderating sure seems to take its share of casualties. People take their arguments a bit too seriously. You can win this one.. |

Ahh my mistake I thought the title of this Thread was how many HIT JOBS..have you posted.. |
I’m not sure
|
What you are talking about.
|
The Gabby Petito thread. Umm, I don't know. I was getting pretty obsessed about it. More than ten I would guess.
|
If your post count is more than 4 per day on average, you are either a narcissist, addicted, or insecure. Prove me wrong :-)
|
What if you just like conversation?

Typically, I only post a couple times in any given thread.
|
Conversation is great! I have been known to engage in a few myself.
There are some however who seem to want to force their POV on others. I swear some would argue about the order of Adele's albums. Life is too short to wrestle with pigs. Unless of course you're into that sort of thing. Best Les |
Post count is about half a post a day but I don't think I'm 'normal'
My 'high post' count in my man cave build thread makes me feel abnormal  |
^^^^ Abnormal? Me doesn't think so .... any interesting thread started by a DIYer is bound to have a lot of posts. This thread was just my musing about Nick's departure over a thread .... nothing more than that ;).

I enjoyed the Miami Condo Collapse thread and posted to it several times, which reminds me, I saw a video with some new info so...off to post!!! [emoji23]

I very seldom post and my count/years as a member shows it. If I do, I will throw in my 2 cents and then move on. To me it is amazing the number of posts some have accumulated over the years. They must spend a lot of time at it. It also seems that years ago the content of the board was more varied and interesting, with some real characters involved and almost all of them long gone to other pursuits or interests. One of my all time favorites was the Mulholland series.

Someone who was addicted would, I suspect, have trouble leaving the keyboard alone. Someone who was insecure would be driven to prove they were "right ". In 21 years I really haven't had much to say. :D Your POV might differ. Best Les |

My stats? What stats are you referring to? |
Isn’t the idea of a forum to post? I feel like I’m missing something here. I have been guilty of excess arguing, that I can admit. I’m making a conscious effort to curb that. I do enjoy conversation however. All of you bring different angles to any subject here and I enjoy that. There’s literally only a couple of members here that I don’t like to read. I refuse to block people though. I check this forum once or twice a day. Similar to The NY Times or WSJ. I like the commentary on PPOT, not parf. Parf brings out the worst in some. I know it brought out the worst in me.

Fint is a stone cold Pelican junkie wt over 65,000 posts and Geezus I thought I lived on this fkin Board...maybe it's those cushy civil service jobs (or govt contract) he has that gives him all that free time on the tax payers dime to lull us into somnolence with his sonorous missives.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/suppo...sleephappy.gif

Not many, I disable the email notifications on every bbs so I don't even think about it till I log back on it.
.67 post per day. |

I don't see the point of setting your phone to follow threads, just in order to refute the last post (arguing). If I have something to add, I will post, but hardly ever get pulled into a back/forth pissing contest !
|
209 total posts in 18 years. Including this one.
0.03 per day. I really gotta pick up the pace. |
Someone brought up Fint. He and I disagree on pretty much everything. I probably roll my eyes the most on some of his posts. That being said, I respect the guy. He doesn’t give a crap about what anyone thinks. He says what he believes and I think that’s cool. I don’t understand what some think the purpose is for a off topic forum?

You have an awful lot of posts to be complaining about others. I probably have 10K posts just responding to personal attacks from folks who whine about my personal life/job like you or read every post then complain they were boring enough to put a MF's ass to sleep. What exactly does that mean anyways? Is that sharing some sort of sexual deviancy or just a lack of circulation that occurs when someone's ass is too old to have proper bowl movements without assistance? Do they think their stories of ancient Ohio are any more a literary gem? Give me a break. |
