Is that a party hat?
A chicken?
A kayak model?
Really large fortune cookie wrapper from lunch?

I take it you're too young to remember Curious George making boats from all the newspapers he was supposed to deliver:

I remember Curious George, I probably had that book, there was some school program in grade school to buy kids books, weekly reader or something like that. I was a frequent purchaser.

The closest thing I’ve ever had to this kayak was a cool wooden model of an outrigger canoe that I bought in Hawaii in the late 60s. I wish I still had it.

I think this kayak needs to be displayed in the house, it’s too neat to use.

I've been wondering where I'm going to store it. Maybe in the living room!

Build a tiki bar and hang it over the top of that.

I finally water-proofed it with a two-part urethane. It needs to be done in a warm and dry room, but the weather had been cold and wet. So I moved it to the attached, heated garage. And the weather immediately became warm and dry again. In any case, I got it done after a bit of a break. Next will be to attach leather straps here and there, and other odds and ends.

Now it really looks like it belongs in the living room.

Getting in would be the easier than getting out!

I would have to use an overhead winch to get in and out. That thing is too nice to be used as anything other than art.

Wow, that turned out nice. Thanks for sharing the build, Chris. I can't wait to see pix of it in the water!

The opening is 16" X 29". I fit in it, but I'm not a big person, at 150 pounds. The plans include tables for certain dimensions, depending on the paddler's weight. The tables go up to 250 pounds.

Not possible. It's amazingly tough. The owner of Cape Falcon knows of only two punctures from rocks out of thousands of kayaks built by him or customers.

Not sure. I might be able to finish on Saturday and then head out to the Half Moon Bay Yacht Club at Pillar Point Harbor on Sunday.

Or, you could just do an Eskimo Roll if you've capsized. Or is it called an Inuit Roll now?
