1960 Porsche 356 Emory Special with John Oates
https://youtu.be/lnfd4sME0Zc
Here is another from Mr Leno for all you Porsche guys. What's your take on this ride? Is it cool or more of a "I can't go for that, no can do..." sort of car? ![]() Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk

Emory always does special stuff and still keeps it very Porsche-like. I recall reading an article on one of his 356 mods in the Registry mag.... He took it to the Monteray fest in '05 (I think... maybe '04? The Speedster 50th anniversary) and some old Porsche factory workers knew it was a Porsche, it all looked right, but they didn't recall making anything like them... That 3.2 911 engine with the middle cylinders cut out and all...

Back when Emory was in Oregon, I went down looking for some odd bit once. Got a personal tour. It was like being in the basement of the Vatican or something. Lots of weird bits and stories. All of it super cool. A highlight was the fiberglass bodywork of one of the three Rothman 964 Paris-Dakar cars.

Gary is still on McMinnville, it's only Rod that moved back to California. I'm fortunate to count Gary as one of my friends, and I cannot tell you how proud of Rod I am, having watched him first grow his Emory Motorsports business (wherein he provided both the building and race day support of 356's in our Pacific Northwest vintage racing series), and now how successful he has been in his restoration / hot rodding endeavors. They are both great guys, and deserve every bit of their success. They've worked hard.

Rod Emory and John Oats talking with the MC about Emory's amazing restoration of the Gmund Coupe at the Werks Reunion in FLA a few years back.
