I keep coming back to the Shick ST2 (slim twin double edge)
Approx a dozen shaves out of them. Need to use the push and rinse on them to make them last.

That was my favorite many years ago for many years. I got several close shaves with minimal cuts. When I started shaving my head, I tried some different stuff. Now I use the Quattro. It's less likely to cut, and almost as close a shave. I get a bunch of shaves out of each refill.

If you're going to leave your razor in the shower or on/near the edge of the sink, don't leave it sitting blade down.

If it's sitting in water and stuff, the blade will dull faster. Also, don't leave the blade laying around clogged full of hair as that will also hold water up against the blades which will cause them to go to hell faster.

Agree.

Can't remember where I saw it - maybe a consumer piece - but the point made was what influenced a razor edge's life the most was moisture left on the blade which led to corrosion of the metal.

Exactly

In a previous discussion I reported my preference for a simple, single-blade yellow disposable razor often available in bags at Dollar Store. Tim Hancock then posted his concurrence, saying "Finally, something we can agree on." I was amused and proud.

One major problem with the double-blade razors is that hair gets wedged into the area between the blades and it's not easy to just rinse out.

Right, although it depends on the blade/style/model. Some are more prone to clogging/wedging than others.

The Shick ST2 has a 'push to rinse' top that separates the blades to rinse out the hairs.

That must be a new feature since I used them. Interesting.

^^^ That's why the ST2 with the 'push to rinse' works so well

Oops..I posted while you were.

All the Slim Twins have the ptr feature. Everytime you rinse the head..keep a finger on the top.
It separates the blades for rinsing the whiskers out. Works great.

My routine? Get my face drenched in hot water in the shower. Soap up beard. Apply a touch of conditioner for lubricity to soaped up beard. Shave away in shower. There is some skill here as I can't see anything. But, the benefits are so very worth it. No break outs. Great shave.

Shower shaving can work great. My method is to take a shower, then get out and shave. I use a mug and brush. VERY hot water is used to make the lather. I sometimes lather and shave twice for that soft-as-a-baby's-butt" texture.

I tried the Kryptonite blade technology once but found it is not for me. I shoulda known better.
