Bought a fat tire electric bike
The folding kind, with a 48v removable battery. Going to use it to scoot around our events this year as we have a bigger area to cover. Has bit of John Player Special vibe. Gets great reviews. Anyone else own something similar?

Those would be great for events like a lot of large car shows or track day events. I assume it will go along at 2 MPH just fine, and when winter comes, remove the battery and put it on maintenance charge. Pretty easy to winterize it and get it ready in the spring.
It does look like a fun toy.

Wife rode an ebike all over Paris. Now she wants one. I've read lots of reviews. Seems an infant industry now. Lots of development each year.
Seems ebike are in our future. |

If I go north, it is almost heavy traffic withing a mile where the businesses start to pop up. For sure it will have a great use in a retirement community that has golf carts everywhere.

will do. Here is a video review with a lot of detail for what is almost exactly the same bike. (It's cheaper on amazon). There are at least 20 factories in china making this exact bike with small variations . Mostly tire brand, suspension and motor wattage. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_mrZCnFLuZ0

There are "classes" of Ebikes. I think the most common class is limited to 20ish mph?
As for range and hills, many do very well. On a rural situation it would be awful and you would probably get run over. So, agreed. In my situation in the 'burbs, they are fine. Except it rains too much here to ride all the time. |

How about a regular bike? What necessitates an ebike.

Ebikes get some people on a bike that would otherwise never consider using a bicycle for transportation. That's in itself a good thing. In commuting, it means one less car on the road! Even as a pit bike, one less annoying loud stinky micro-motorcycle.
That said, it also gets a lot of people on bikes that haven't ridden one in 50 years and have zero balance yet crank it up to 11. I juts always hope they will crash without any others involved. G |

For me, a few reasons: 1) I don't want to be a sweaty mess when chatting with prospective members. 2) A fun, transportation-related conversation starter. 3) Give our young helpers a bit of fun as we have them traverse across a large area to set up and tear down our events.

We have an electric bike-share program here in town. Using a phone app, a 1/2 hour of ride time can be had for $2.00. They're a lot of fun and make you feel like you have super strength. With just enough effort to keep the pedals spinning, you can zoom around at 20MPH...and hills are barely noticeable. The bikes don't need to be left at specific locations either...the app will tell you exactly where each bike is and how much charge is left in it.

My wife and I bought a couple of AddMotor E bikes.
Folding style. Got a rack for the back of the motorhome and tow them when we are going camping for a week or so. We took them to Vegas and Sedona and used the heck out of them. Just have to make sure you have a good lock when leaving parked. We usually fold them in half and then lock them up. Making it even harder to steal. My wife rides hers to Starbucks every weekend about 5 miles away. We have a lot of bike lanes and trails where we live and use those. Other bicyclist don't have a problem with it, they just smile and wave. Gotta figure out how to mount a stereo to it. LOL

Thinking of using them when traveling in our Class B RV. Leave campsite set up and ride to not-so-nearby facilities, stores, restaurants, hiking trails, etc. Fat tire ebikes are better for unpaved roads/trails.

Even The basic ones have ranges exceeding 40 miles. You can use them to go from the RV park to the local watering hole. Charge via the 15A outlet.
