We're the kindest to him. I've seen him in other places and yes, he' a popular as a target there, as well. It's de rigueur to slam him.

I get what everyone is saying about professional and semi-professional productions but there are other outlets for that. What I miss is the 3 minute video showing a particular sequence or trick to diagnose or repair a dishwasher or car. Yes those videos are still there but they’re buried.

Buried by kids in dress up animal costumes covering stupid subject matter and really bad cinematography. (Someone here finds that 'good')

What bugs me is the cost... Honestly, $12 a month to avoid ads is a bit steep... It is after all the Etsy of video channels, it's not like a Disney + type level of production...
I could see $5 max for the privilege, but at current sub prices, I check my phone during the ads...

What ads are people talking about? The only ads I ever see is the personality telling you about a service or product. that's a 1 second click to jump to move on.

Have to jump to 7:38 for her ad. I'm actually really impressed with this woman, she's been on YT for 4 years and just started her own brand of woks, chopsticks, clay pots out of need from her viewers requests. Pretty cool.

I don't understand all the ad angst.

Cost...
Take cost in how much of your time it takes to earn that money.
Compare it to how much of your time you spend with the entertainment service.

That said, when they started stripping my fav channels of monetization yet still played adds and made money on their channels I have put made sure to put an addblocker on every computer I use.

Works quite well.

Adblockers are free. No need to pay.

I use Vimeo for my hosting, a lot more quality productions. You Tube is "Watch dad get kicked in the balls with a soccer ball" cuteness.

Without an ad-blocker I typically, at the front end, get a 12-15 second advertisement that I can't skip and then another ad that I can skip after five seconds.

Once into the main video the content creator more than likely makes a plea for subscriptions, hit the like button, hit notifications and then there is the intra-video advertisement which can last for two+ minutes.

The meat of the video finally starts and I'm not sure what the basis is for triggering them but it may be as frequent as every few minutes an ad interrupts the video. Some videos are not too bad and then others are brutal as to frequency of ads.

The content provider makes a plea for you to contribute through Patreon at the end.

Not cast in stone but I see it a lot.

A lot of websites tell you to scram if you have an ad blocker.

You all really need some ad-blockers. Yootoob is unwatchable without it IMHO.

But it's easy to turn off and on for each site. I never see ads here on PP and YT. I'm a YT junkie these days, would spend a lot less time there with ads. Like none other than a quick search vs. educational entertainment that I use it for now.

Someone needs to set these idiots straight, and I happily volunteer my time. The reality is that monetization pushed the content quality to the stratosphere.
For example, this was released this week. I have seen several made for TV versions of Tenerife, but this blew them all out of the water.
Only with monetization do you get this caliber of content. Without it, you'd still have MySpace & Facebook quality garbage instead of professional expert media.
You get what you pay for. You have to be a total moron not to understand this.

I have to figure out how to do that. I have ad blocker on my shop computer but not on my home computer or Firestick TV.

Good info that is doable. Thank you.

Should be a small shield to the right of the address bar. Click on that.

I have an ad blocker on my iphone, but it doesn’t stop ads on YouTube. As mentioned in my iPhone, at the first sign of an ad at the beginning of a video, if you hit refresh, the video starts from the beginning. The problem is the ad during the video. I don’t know if any way to avoid those.

Happy to help. Life is too short to watch ads.
