That Time of Y3ar again, Haters don't Open
Wow, 28 years ago, i was going mall to mall (back when there were regional malls in jax) trying to reach either my father or evil ***** step-sister. I had had a phone call from a friend (R.I.P) down at the club that my father had been found passed out. That was all I knew, so i immediately call the evil ***** and let her know what i knew and to let me know what was going on. Those who knew my father know, that if he felt like taking a nap, he would literally sleep under a tree, at the club, instead of going to the boat.
Well, later that evening, never reaching anyone at the boat or her house, I was a Christmas party at a friends home on the intercoastal, across from what is now Mash Landing. So i call again, this time my brother-law answers. I ask him m How my father was, he says he is gone. Well, it was nothing for my Dad to hop on another boat and head to Charleston or the Bahamas, so i ask Terry, where did he go, then he said that he was dead. I felt like I was shot in the Gut with a 50 cal. Not a single one, knowing how to reach me, After i reached out to them. Even though I was the 1st notified, I was the last to know. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() [img]http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploads26/FB_IMG_14610820674871639255155.jpg[/

Some days just trigger sad memories...if I knew how to avoid that, I'd tell you. Yeah, I have a day that's the same...

Best to you Byron ..... that's about all I've got. Years ago, I had a totally different perception of you fwiw. Life throws lots of curve balls, but you're still in the batter's box ... keep swinging brother.... be well!

Byron, it was 24 years ago my dad went into hospital for some tests. While there he suffered a stroke and never regained consciousness.
I was lucky I know to be part of a loving family who were all supportive of each other. Still the gut wrenching pain you describe is very familiar. I cannot imagine dealing with that grief without the support. The burden you have been carrying does nothing to help you, it may be tarnishing the memories of the times you had with your father. I hope you are able to find a way to let go of the hurt from the crappy way you were treated. Be well. Best Les |

Byron....how old were you in 1993? If 14 or more......you are indeed a lucky man.
My father died on the operating table in 1968 when I was 14 years old. I was told he was going in for surgery - but not that it could be the last time I ever saw him. I found out when a neighbor woke me up and told me about it the next morning. I've lived my entire life being thankful I got to know my father before he died. That is it. I invite you to join me, Byron - in just being thankful for that one aspect. Forget the rest. Don't carry the burden. Our Dads wouldn't that. ![]()
