Probably couldn't stop. Loaded up like the Joads escaping the dustbowl and the road surface is a wet steel grate.

The road surface leading up to the gate, and for quite some distance after the gate, is pavement. The steel grate doesn't start until the moveable part of the drawbridge. He's not going all that fast. These gates only come down after the warning lights have been flashing for some time, so he no doubt had plenty of warning. Plenty of time to stop if he wanted to stop.

Beyond that, I just cannot see towing a trailer with a motorcycle. What a horribly dangerous thing to do. No motorcycle manufacturer endorses this practice.

Saw this mentioned on the news the other day. They reported that the cyclist had several violations in their past, so it sounded like this type of antic was not his first.

He skidded and crashed when he saw the bridge moving upward. The crossing arm knocked his face shield off but didn't knock him out.
