Collector cars under $250k
I am curious what are some modern day collector Porsches under the $250k?
I know there are some individuals who say you can't invest in an automobile and retain ownership for a number of years and when they decide to sell at least get out what they purchased it for?

Can you elaborate?
Is this just your opinion or is there some basis? What year?

$250K gets you some pretty rare cars.
For Porsches, I think I'd be looking at a 996 GT3RS. They made less than 700 of those. Or maybe a 996 GT2, production was just over 1000. For collectability, I think you want a model clearly connected to racing lineage and a very low production number. I'd consider either of the above to be heir to the '73 Carrera RS in terms of investment value.

It's just an opinion. Made 1 year only, 2012. Can be had for about $75k right now and well, it has an R in the name.

You can still find 997 GT3 RS's and GT2's for under $250K.
The 964 turbo has a strong collector following, cannot touch a 3.6 one, but the 91 and 92's are still under that. |

The urge to possess is a strong one.

Low mileage NSX's are really hitting some big numbers right now. Maybe they're peaking? Time will tell...
I'd think seriously about a CSL 3.0, but I'm not sure if you'd be able to get a good one now for the money you have.

Yes, like the 911R is believe they are past the $250K mark.
GT3RS is where I would be looking. Collector grade cars are going to cost you. Do you want a driver? I do not know enough about other marques to offer any valuable advice. |

Collector grade with no stories. Summer use only, C&C, shows. Have other cars that are drivers.

My money would be on the 991.2 GT3RS in Purple(?) or Lizard Green Preferably a last year 2019. I’d have to drive it though. Can’t stand garage queens.

Anything with GT or R in the name, the spec really drives up future collectability: Odd color, manual, low convivence options, all performance options.
The 993TT was revolutionary for its modern performance and systems, I think that holds its collectability back some. A decade later many performance cars would be lag free awd and 400hp. It doesnt have as much old timey appeal as other models.

For a $250k budget, there are a lot of collectible cars out there. Dozens of not more. E30 M3s come to mind and mint air-cooled 911s, you could buy several. If you are asking which cars will appreciate and actually be a good investment, that’s a different thing and hard to predict.
