I found out through the wonderful net. Mfg had stickers on there to prevent people from putting white gas, which is none leaded into their tank screwing up their motors, so unleaded is fine. Gotta get out for a bike ride, before the rain comes later today, then pull the carbs. Dang, I love holiday schedules.

I was finally able to remove the carb today. It was not too bad but it did have a coat of vanish on the interior and the passage ways. Carb cleaner is on my do get list tomorrow. The rest of the bike is in great shape.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1640237345.JPG

Don’t just clean it, replace any rubber parts that are within it.

And in case you’re wondering, this is actually the correct wiring and circuit block. As goofy as it may appear.

If this was my bike, I would put a new spark plug in it, keep the gas turned off, and spray a little starting fluid in the carburetor intake. Then pull in on the start lever and spin the pedals a little bit. I bet it fires right up! And for the few seconds it runs, you’re not going to hurt anything.

that joke about mopeds and ____girls never jiived with me. i loved a friends moped when we were kids. of course part of it was i hated walking everywhere.

When were kids, we rode a neighborhood friend's family Vespa to death and had a blast. It was all beaten to crap but it sure was fun. We were all about 13-14 years old. Hell, as kids, anything beats walking. The small market about 3/4 miles from us loved us too as we would frequent lots more often load up sodas and candies daily instead of walking there a couple times a week.

I dive deeper into utube and discovered there's a whole other sub culture out there and they aren't 17 year old kids. Funny. Its pretty popular in Germany.

I don't think there are any rubber parts but the float.

Serious subculture, some of the guys I ride with are people who make Ferrari money but they spend their time tinkering with 2 smoke Vespas, Lambrettas, etc.

Floats are usually plastic or metal, but I’ve never seen a moped carburetor apart. I’d be surprised if there weren’t some gaskets and at least one o-ring.

You’ll need new fuel hose, too.

We used mopeds before we had drivers permit to buy herbs and stuff. Good memories.

Kids in Idaho got to get their drivers license at 14yo when I was growing up. Mopeds were for the little kids.

I spent a week in Bermuda at my brother’s house, when he lived down there. Each family there was allowed one small car and one small moped, I wore that little son of a ***** out, racing around the island. Good times.

I don’t know if you can get it in California but Berryman makes an awesome solvent for cleaning carburetor parts.

Now, that's another bag of fun altogether. No noise for us old dudes to lose any more hearing.

We honeymoon in Player del Carmen Mexico and got to spend a few day in Cozumel. We rented mopeds and rode around the area, especially the island. It was a blast.

Got a gasket kit on order and fuel hose too. No rubber or o-ring in there. I laughed quietly, the kit is 7 bucks. if Porsche made the moped, that kit would have cost 70 bucks:eek:

That is funny. The Vespers reminds of the Mod Squad only you need more lights and mirrors.
