So, I got me a new project like I've got time for it

but it will be fun and get my younger kid involve so he can ride it once done.

Neighbor went into garage deep cleaning because his new Tesla is coming and needed to get charging set up and a place to park it. I help him wire up the charger last weekend. All is well and now see this Moped on the driveway yesterday with the FREE sign on it. Off it goes, I rolled it up the hill to my place. He bought it 30 years ago when he came out here from Atlanta while working for CBS. Its been in his garage even since.

I am thinking, clean the plug, put in some gas and see if it starts up?

I need to register it with I am afraid to ask for paper work because I know his dog may have eaten it. Tips on this?

One more time

I had to use the old method, dragging isn't working. Why the change, it was a great system?

Hell no, this is to piss off all my ultra left, tree hugging neighbors with my 2 stroke pud pud. Another few drops more of two stroke oil will smoke em' out. Muhahahah

Used to be (probably still is) in CA you could just post a bond to guarantee the title. Should be dirt cheap.

Replace the tires for sure.

There's a scooter gang in Portland. Sometimes on the weekend you'll see them on a run, fifty strong, dressed up like Marlon Brando and Lee Marvin in The Wild Bunch, fogging the air like there's a mosquito invasion and just generally raising heck on a really small scale. It's really funny.

That is funny but they are having a hell of a time doing this.

That will be loaf of bread or coffee getter on a Sunday morning. Its a mile walk down the hill, then another mile to coffee shop. Now, I just need to get a cute helmet to match the blue on the bike. Woohoo.

I want to install a 30" wide roller so the hammer heads can draft off me and sit their front wheel on it during our training rides. I might even put up Plex glass for more wind shield. I did that way back during college when I had a Honda Aero 50 cc moped (without pedals, that's just too nerdy). Expect the cops pulled about the 10 of us over and gave me an ear full, shook his head and left and was told to never do it again or else...

Garage
I have bought a few old 2 stroke mopeds back to life (mostly VeloSolex).
Sometimes the petrol/oil mixture in the tank, lines& filters turns to goo as the petrol evaporates. It just needs to be cleaned out.
These are lots of fun. I hope your kid enjoys it when its street legal.

Doubtful. I'd call the Sacramento DMV office at Eight hundred 777-0133. If it looks like you need a DMV consultant, I can recommend one. They might only charge $50-100 to do it.

Cool, thanks will let you know. Let me get this thing some fuel tomorrow and pull the plug and see if there's ignition.

How did you manage to do clean that out. What chemical do you use and did you just let it drain all the rust or gunk out of the fuel outlet whick looks like it is the lowest point of the tank? I bet that's exactly what happened to this lil' bike. Yeah, they are street legal here.

I’ve rebuilt a couple of Puchs. They are easy to work on and parts are readily available. My suggestion would be for you to strip it completely down, clean everything, replace what might need to be replaced, and get it back on the road. Those old two-stroke engines are very robust. I wouldn’t be surprised if it started up by just putting some two-stroke gas in the tank. Here are some pics of my last rebuild.

Kurt, that is super cool. Is that some type of suspension seat?

I just started to take a few covers off couple hours ago and discovered there's no spark. I don't understand how this thing create electricity to power the biggest draw, the head light and the plug? Know if the socks can be rebuild? The choke is stuck or frozen, so a new carb maybe on order. Do you think its better to keep the old and just rebuild it?

I need to get it running so I can take it down to my local car wash and spray away with their power washer to get off 30 years of gunk. Its not too grease at all, so I don't see any leaks. I have to see about changing the oil on this thing. I have not been this excited about a project in a long time.
