Well ya gots to Bootsy and Jack Bruce...

If ya listen to a Live Cream extravaganza listening to Clapton and Bruce run the frets is like taking a hit of pure white snow... WHOA!!!

An Bootsy does with a Bass what Hendrix did to a guitar.

Burn those Boards..

This is listening to the waves of Clapton's guitar smashing up against the rocks of of Bruce's Bass...this is like taking that 5th hit in the morning...enough to wake a dead man up .

It is not often you can get an audience to chant your baseline. Joe Dart is in the category of 'other' in my mind.

Mine too. I learn bass covers from him all the time. I smile when I see he has done a song I want or need to learn. EVERYBODY else does wrong/incorrect bass covers. This guy nails every single one of them.

wow, amazing.

so many great ones.

steve bailey
victor wooten.
john entwistle.
geddy lee- I think under rated
of course joco.

steve bailey and victor wooten use to do "basses at the beach" here every year.
I thought steve bailey was amazing then I saw victor wooten and never thought anyone with a 4 string bass could keep up with bailey
bailey plays a 5 string fretless.
to see him use ALL 5 fingers on the fret board, and not the thumb over the neck, is something to see.

I actually got to play with steve bailey.
he lives here in town and the musicians at my church were pors. so they know him.
they asked him to come sit in with us.
it was very intimidating for me to play with these guys because they are so good.

basses at the beach always had a funny side show.

all the guys (musicians of course) would come with their girlfriends. after about 20 minutes of no vocals the girls would get board. about 45 minutes later about half the people were gone because of girlfriends. after an hour and half or so there would only be guys there and maybe a few dedicated girl friends and wives.
