RIP Earl Hayden
For those of you that follow motorcycle racing, I wanted to let you know that Earl Hayden (Nicky Hayden’s dad) has passed away.
I don’t think a nicer guy ever graced an AMA paddock. He was truly one of a kind and will be missed. |

Very, very sad news. Never a more devoted father and role model not just for his own kids, but every kid he ever met. There would be a lot fewer problems in this world if more fathers raised their kids like Earl Hayden raised his. RIP Mr. Hayden.

Very sad news. I was a motorcycle mechanic doing a little racing when the two little Hayden boys showed up at Oak Hill with dad Earl. What a great family. Earl raised them right.
My brother was friends with Earl but I only talked to him once or twice. I did spend some time with Nicky when he was probably around 11 (you never knew for sure since rumor was Earl had special birth certificates for track days) and within minutes of being around Nicky you knew he was about as good a person as you could meet.
